This is an update of a previous post by Sharon Rickson.

It can be tough to remember the title and author of a book you read a long time ago—even if it was a book that was really important to you. Fiction is cataloged by author and title, not by subject or plot line, which makes identifying books by just their storyline difficult.

Readers often ask librarians for help finding these kinds of books. And we can’t figure out the mystery every single time, but we do have a few tricks to help find the answer.

First, pin down everything you can remember about the book, plot, character names, time period in which the book may have been published, genre, etc. All these details are clues in identifying the title and author of the book.

Online resources can help with your search for a half-remembered book, even if all you have is a basic plot line. Searching yourself is a good place to start; then, you can post to a listserv or discussion forum, where someone might recognize it. Or, last but not least, leave a comment on this post!

Before You Start

Try Google! Type in everything you can remember about the book — as in, “picture book rabbi animals advice yiddish” — and scroll through the results. (That’s a real-life example of a book a patron was asking for: It Could Always Be Worse by Margot Zemach.)

You can also try googling one key detail you remember from a book. One of our librarians solved a book mystery by searching “USS You-Know-Who” — the name of a boat in the story that the patron happened to remember. (Another real-life example: She Flew No Flags by Joan Manley.)

More Suggestions

  • If you can remember just one word, use the search function on Goodreads or Library Thing to find long lists of titles with a particular word.

This is a series of three books. In the next book she sees the boyfriend and finds out that he never died and that he switched places with his dying brother.

PLZ help find this book

I read this book maybe 10 years ago and i want to re-read it and show it to my little brother (it was my fave book when i was his age). So the book has many stories inside it and i cannot for the life of me explicitly remember the plot to any of the stories, however I remember little parts. There was this crazy lady in the park that fed pigeons, and a man that would light street lamps. i also remember there being a lighthouse or a tall building with lost of stars that these children would climb. I remember when i was reading it it reminded me of the series of unfortunate events (lemony snickett) however its mostly the mystery and gothic style that was similar not the plot. I also remember the book was a hardcover and was a beige or yellowy colour. I know its not much but any help would be great fully appreciated!

I recognize parts of that!

Are you thinking of the Mary Poppins books? There's definitely a lady feeding pigeons in one of those (and a park), and children climb ladders to place stars in the sky. Do you remember the stars coming from the wrappers of gingerbread, and a woman breaking off pieces of her fingers that turn out to be candy? Those books are amazingly creepy sometimes. They're the right era for gas street lamps that need to be lit, too.

Can't remember the name of the book

Scary stories

I’ve been searching for a couple of years now for this, and I can’t seem to let it go. It’s a book of short stories I read in middle school- all terrifying. I don’t think there were more than ten or so in the book. One was about a boy who got eaten by a giant, but survived by sheltering in the giant’s tooth. There were more people who were eaten, and they sometimes tried to cling to the giant’s teeth- but they usually ended up falling down its gullet, I think.. Another story was about a kid who could tell something was wrong with the area beneath his bed. When toys ended up underneath, they disappeared. He talked about the feeling of uneasiness he got from it all. One night, these hands crept up from beneath and tried to grab him. He tried yelling for his parents, but the door to his bedroom locked. And when the hands succeeded in dragging him down, he discovered they had entered some sort of underworld. Then he realized he recognized the person who had dragged him beneath the bed, and that person explained the reason. He was stuck in this underworld until he could grab someone else from their bed and force them to take his place. I can’t remember anything else, but know there are at least a couple more stories. Can you help me find this book, please?

I've read that story! Did a

I've read that story! Did a search based on my own memories and your posts, and came up with the book/collection "ODDER THAN EVER" and that story in particular is "The Giant's Tooth" by Bruce Coville. Thanks for reminding me of its existence - putting it on my list of stories to revisit from my youth.

I need help to find this book

This book I read when I was probably 10/11 I don’t remember the cover, author or even tittle. I do know some of the details of it. The way it starts out is by a knight or a man riding a horse to take a child into the woods. He lays the child on a stomp but as he walks alway from the child he gets ugly and deformed. So her goes back to her and becomes her caretaker. Another scene from the book that I remember is that she comes in and there’s a group of young boys playing basketball then the same child now grown appears. She seems to be wearing a nurses uniform. That’s as much I can recall from the book. Please help and thank you.

Sci Fi

I read this sci book about a submarine mission.. A group ended up getting lost in another dimension. Instead of coming back to their own place and time they got sent back to a much later time and place.

HELP ME FIND THIS BOOK

This book is about an attorney that is investigating the death of a powerful man and its heritage, the widow plays an important role in the story. The lawyer was divorced and his ex wife is an attorney too. It's a book from de 90s

I’m looking for a book

The book I’m looking for had a Volkswagen on the front cover. A guy and girl may have been in there as well. The book goes back and forth between one summer in the 60’s and current times. The main character is a guy whose father makes him go work in a plant for one summer somewhere in the south. He makes friends with the guys he works with, one of whom nicknames him Smarts because Smarts secretly teaches this tough guy math and he’s a college graduate. These guys in the plant clean out tanks and later in life they are stricken with cancer. One of the guys in the plant works the loading dock and we don’t discover his name (they all have nicknames) until late in the book, but he’s a key player in the plot. There’s an Italian family that Smarts befriends. One of the girls becomes his secret girlfriend for the summer. She’s smart like him and ambitious. She has a sister who all the guys like. They have twin older brothers who get drafted at the end if the summer. Something happens and Smarts leaves before the end of the summer without saying goodbye. But no one ever really forgot him and he never forgot them. Fast forward 20 years or so and Smarts is back in town but I can’t remember why. This is when they discover the cancer causing chemicals were in the tanks they climbed inside to clean out. We also find out why Smarts left so abruptly that summer. And there’s another twist that is revealed concerning the model and construction of a shopping center. Whose original plan was it and who stole it and claimed it as his own. Great book! I’d love to find it so I can own a copy.

Short stories for children

Hi everyone. I remember the name of the stories but I don't remember the title of the book—it might even be an English textbook that contains short stories. I was in elementary school at the time when I had access to this book. The two stories contained were "The Wind In the Rosebush" and another horror short story called "Poor Sandy", at least I think that's the tittle. I have been unable to find Poor Sandy anywhere. Its about an unlucky boy who is turned into a tree and shortly after lumberjacks come into the forest and cut him down resulting in the forest being haunted. If anyone can point me to the right direction, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Poor Sandy

Is this it? https://en.m.wikisource.org/wiki/Po%27_Sandy

I too was traumatized by that textbook.

It had a white cover and was called Fantasy. It contained Poor Sandy, the Incredible Shrinking Man, and many other unforgettable stories. I read it in 1983, in elementary school. Wish I could find it on Amazon. But I can't find it ANYWHERE!! Must have been banned and burned.

holocaust book, cant remember name

Years ago I came across a book that was written from the point of view of a young boy growing up in germany. His father was SS, a nazi. It showed how his father was his hero and him beginning to come to the realization of what his father's 'work' was. I didn't get a chance to finish the book. I am now homeschooling teens and want to use it to show how people were convinced to follow such a horrific path. Anyone know the title of the book?

Could it be Boy in the Striped Pajamas?

Vampire Romance Novel?

Its so funny, because I read this book in the 90's about three times and I can't recall the name or title. I remember the cover a bit. A girl with long wavy black hair. I think she was in a red dress and she was being seduced by a man of course, in the photo. So all I can remember of the book is she was a vampire. I believe she escaped her maker, and she enlists in high school (not unlike the Last Vampire but it isn't that book) and she falls in love with a boy. The problem is, he has a girlfriend already. Well, the girlfriend and her get into a fight and somehow, the girlfriend becomes a vampire as well which causes further problems. In the midst of it all, I think she has to contend with being chased by her master who wants her back and this dudes girlfriend. I wanna say the vampires name was Rita, Anita, or something but I could be wrong. It was a good book and I would love to read it again.

Lost name of great book

The book I have been searching for is a book with yellow cover and an outline of a bird(i believe on the lower right hand corner of the cover) about a boy named ethan(I think its ethan) going to war or in the army and in the beginning of the book is is saying how he was raised on a chicken farm and when in bootcamp or something he has a picture of his childhood friend who he is completely in love with but never told her personally but plans on telling her he is also teased by his bunk mates for not telling her and how she is really pretty.

HELP ME I LOvE THIs BOOK AND I CANT REMEMBER THE TITLE

I remember that a girl found out she was written by an author that came to her school one day. She has two friends one is named West I think. Both are boys. One main event is one of the boy and the main character, a girl, are having a midnight swim and are in love. In the end, the girl is in a white room because her author put her book(Life) away. The girl only has paper and pen in her pocket left and she writes her life back and in the end, West actually was supposed to be forced into her life but the boy she had a midnight swim with, love each other now.

Book

I read this book a few months ago. It is a dystopian novel, has a male teenage protagonist, male author. It’s about this substance that can be shapeshifted into anything using the mind. The protagonist is on a spaceship with I think 19 other teens to go to a planet where this substance can be harvested. They compete to determine who gets to harvest it, and there’s a monetary reward for the winner. I believe the name of the book is the name of the substance, but I can’t remember what the substance was called. The cover was blue and black and shiny I think. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Amazing book read in grade 7

I remember we read about a man who had good character. His brother committed a crime but he was sentenced in his place, because if he stood proxy, no one could sentence his brother again. I also remember there was a dual and someone was killed. There was a lot of time spend traveling by ship before he came back to win over the girl he once loved. Probably plays off in the 1800's and no its not The Count Of Monte Carlo.

What Book Is This??

I read this book once about a boy and girl who drowned in a pond and their dog (Saint Bernard maybe?) went in to save them and drowned. They all live as ghosts now and discover new ghost powers and when someone buys the house they live in, they try to scare away this girl. At one point I think the boy kept opening the alive girl's dresser drawer to scare her.

Can you help me find this book?

I am looking for a book and can't remember the title and it's hard to explain what it's about. It's about a young woman working as a maid or servant in a cottage or lodge of some kind and a famous writer comes to stay and I think she has feelings for him but he is gay or bi. It mentions a couple of other writers or poets that he knew, can't remember who but along the lines of Oscar Wilde or Dickens, probably not that famous. The main writer doesn't live in the country but he goes there for a break, might be English countryside or American. I think it was around the Victorian era or early 1900s. The edition I had featured a man diving in boxers or shorts, just diving or swimming with a few flowers or maybe bees around him. It's a fairly new book so I'm thinking it would have been written after 2003. It reads like a biography, even while reading it I thought it was but it is a reimagining of a real writers life or what it would have been for the main girl to have known him. Sorry I can't be of much help when it comes to a keyword in the title. If I just knew the writer's name that would even help. He was assumed to be homosexual in real life. Don't think he was married. I am also looking for another book I read as a child. Again, very hard to explain. It is set in another fantasy universe. I remember it being a very dry, acrid place where people were nomadic. It centers around a young girl, the people in it had unusual names. The title may have something to do with 'summer'. Definately a young adult or youth book. Fantasy/sci fi genre.

Found!

The other night I came across a box of mine from when I last moved hidden underneath bags of other stuff in my parents garage and upon opening it I realized it contained a lot of books I haven’t read yet and some I really enjoyed and want to re read and lo and behold the first book I mentioned in my post was down the bottom. So thankful as I have many boxes of books in storage and without someone helping me with the title I thought it would be a while before I found it again. The book is ‘The Great Lover’. ‘The Great Lover is a 2009 biographical novel by Jill Dawson. The novel follows the fictional Nell Golightly as she encounters the eccentric poet Rupert Brooke in Grantchester, Cambridgeshire.’ Definitely going to read it again as when I searched reviews on the internet there were lots of details I don’t remember. I usually like fantasy or historical/period romance, so wasn’t sure if it would be my cup of tea but I recommend it to anyone who likes a strong, candid female protagonist and a frivolous but loveable poet set in a bygone era. Very good read. Love the poem of the titles namesake as well.

Can't remember the name of the book

In this book the boy falls for a girl who already has a girl child and her husband is no more. Her husband was in military or something and he got killed there. The girl child in actual is not the husbands child. The girl gets raped by 2 guys during an event she goes with her best friend who was her husband now. The husband takes the responsibility on him and marries her. And the boy she is falling in love is a police. The end is with the three of them with the soon to come baby paying respect and thanking the husband for all his help And love.

Searching for a book

It's a book set in the south in the 60's. A college graduate is forced by his father to go down south (I think from NY) to work in a plant. He feels like a misfit but slowly makes friends with the other guys. One of the guys (I think his name is Sal) wants the college kid to secretly tutor him. So the college kid secretly leavs lesson notes for Sal and Sal gives him the nickname Smarts. The plant has huge tanks that the guys climb in and clean and there's a loading dock as well. I think Smarts only works the loading dock. There's an Italian family that befriends Smarts. They have two daughters (one of which Smarts starts dating) and twin boys, who get drafted by the end of the summer. I don't remember what exactly happens, but Smarts feels like the girl betrays him and he leaves town at the end of the summer without saying goodbye to anyone. Twenty years later, he comes back and finds the girl is a lawyer. She's a widow with two teenagers. Smarts starts looking up Sal, and some of the others guys from the plant. He finds some are sick and some have died. Turns out the tanks they climbed in contained cancer causing chemicals. Also, Sal had a secret plan he only showed Smarts to build a shopping center in his town. Someone stole his plan, claimed it as his own and got rich. It's a great book and I'd love to find it.

looking for a book about a teacher during the 1800s in the US

My friend is a teacher and she loaned me this book and it was fascinating and I'd like to read it again. I think it was about the school children, what they had to do to get to school, walking through the snow, barely any shoes, etc. I think it was non fiction but it read well.

Possibly "The Thread That Runs So True"

This book is not set in the 1800's, but The Thread That Runs So True by Jesse Stuart is an autobiography of Stuart's early careers beginning with teaching in Kentucky when he was still a teenager himself. His students were barefoot, I recall. Stuart later became a champion for higher pay and recognition for teachers and better funding for schools.

Possibly Christy?

This description is very evocative of the Christy series by Catherine Marshall. It takes place in the early 1900s in Tennessee and is about a young woman from Asheville who goes to work as a schoolteacher. None of her students have shoes and there is a scene where she is looking at their tiny bare footprints in the snow. I have several of the books so I’m not sure if the one you read was the first one or not. It would be worth reading through the descriptions of the first 4 if the first book is not the one you want, since a good chunk of the first book is her traveling to the town where she will teach. They are fiction but based loosely on the life of the author’s mother.

Desperately Seeking A Specific Children's Book

PLEASE HELP! Looking for this book (a children's book) about a boy who doesn't understand why his parents, grand parents and teachers aren't as excited about what he does anymore. Hello everyone! I have been scanning the internet for a book i read a few years ago but i have no idea who the author or the name of the book is. However, I shall give you a description of it in the hopes that someone will come to my rescue! The main character was a little girl who went by the name of Pia, Pea, Pip, or perhaps Beau; something along those lines! She had a younger sister whose name I cannot remember, and she lived with her heavily pregnant mother (Her father presumed dead or at war?) The book was set in early 1900's (possibly WW1 era) and she lived in the french country side. Although the book is set in France, the book is in english. Anyway, somewhere in the book, the two sisters meet a man- Claude I think his name is- and they befriend him ( i don't think the girls tell their mother about Claude). They run out every morning after breakfast to meet Claude and I believe Claude has a dog? Claude may have a pretty dark background, possibly to do with a wife or his children dying, and this is why he adores the girls so much. The scene in the book that i remember most vividly is when the girls and Claude are playing in a field where there is a big tree, and one of the girls decides to climb it but falls, hits her head and is knocked unconscious. She has a big gash in her head and the other girl runs home to tell her mother, as their house isn't very far away. Claude stays with the hurt girl to keep her company and look after her. But at this point in the book, the mothers due date is getting nearer and nearer, and so the stress of having to run after the girl to the place where her other daughter is lying unconscious is unbearable, triggering the mothers waters to break and her labour begins. Claude has to manage the vulnerability of the birthing mother and the two girls and so calls an ambulance an safely gets them both to the hospital, where the baby is safely delivered and the girl is fine. The family befriend Claude. So, if anyone had any idea of what book this is, Please could you email me. Iv'e wanted to re-read this book for so long!

I'm trying to remember this

I'm trying to remember this book that I read back in high school. It's a fiction book about about five or six kids of all ages who live on the streets. They are all brought together by one girl who never stays with them. One girl runs away but returns home to bathe, eat, and get clean clothes but doesn't want to stay home because her step brother harms her. Can anyone help me?

Looking for book for over 5 years.

I read a book about 5+ years ago about a girl in the victorian age wanting to travel and see the world but with the era she lives in she is expected to be a lady. I do not remeber the title or the author. I remember the covered vividly of three characters, the main character included, which was a girl with black hair in a green dress, then the main character in the middle in a sapphire blue dress and auburn hair, and a blue eyed-blonde in a pink dress. The story was a mystery romance. The lover ended up being a famiky friend that she competed with until she joins him at the end to sail the world. Her friends and her lover solve a murder mystery. And in the story, you discover she has mutiple siblings; one being special-ed and having dwarfism. I have tried countless searches for this book. Anything would be great help!

This sounds a lot like a japanese manga that was also adapted into an anime called The Wallflower. It has other titles too. If this isn't the one you were looking for, I'd still recommend reading The Wallflower though!

In search of a series

The YA Fiction series follows a girl (she may have been a princess..idk) who escapes a perilous situation and is entrusted to a male shapeshifting guard (I think he’s a wolf) He takes her around the country where they are running from this threat. They finally settle in this cabin up in the snowy mountains far away. One day while in the cabin he accidentally makes it to where she can’t in the cabin and she almost freezes to death. He then bares his throat in submission and offers to let her punish him.

Can Not Remember the Title

I read the first book maybe 10 years ago. It is a young adult fantasy book about a girl marrying a king of the goblin race, I think they were goblins. She is forced into it and during the ceremony she receives a golden snake around her arm. She ends up falling in love with the king, however the entire race is put under a spell. To find a way to save him, she attempts to awaken the snake by trying to kill herself. Also every king must marry a human. The second book is a young adult book about a girl raised with a prince in a commoner’s house. Their people have a legend about a white knight and she dresses as the knight to stop a war. She is actually a lord’s daughter and she is in love with the prince. I think her name is Belladonna or something similar.

Don't Remember the Title or Author

I am looking for a vintage children's hardcover storybook about a large family, very similar to The Walton's (in fact, it was probably modeled after the TV series) of the middle son, roughly age 11 or 12, developing a growth spurt. Soon outgrowing his bed, his clothes, his shoes, and even growing taller than his dad and grandpa, as he reached his teenage years. The family seems to be laughing throughout the book, either amused or betwixed over his weird growth spurt. Eventually I think the dad and grandpa have to build him a bed, to accommodate his larger, taller size. The title was something around "What do we do about _____" or "The _______ Family". It was published between 1965 and 1975, as I bought it from a school book fair when I was about 9 or 10, which would have been 1978.

Help!

I cannot remember the name or author. But I remember reading this book. A teenage spy or secret agent or something goes to high school. He is trying to solve a murder. He ends up meeting a girl and when they are together, he says he has a hankering for vanilla ice cream. (Not actual ice cream.) At one point, she learns his true identity. And she stops trusting him but I think it ends with him hanging up some sort of banner and locking eyes with her down the hallway at the high school.

Can't remember the title of the books

I am looking for a book that I read back in like the 4th-6th grade between 2007-2009, it was about two girls that are best friends, I know there was more than one book about them and they lived in this very happy town with a lot of elder people and I think there was something about a quilt shop or something kind of shop they would visit/help out, I do remember one of the girls had curl red or orange hair and one of the book covers was pink. The town I think was in a fictional city in New York but more of a suburban area, there is a lot of trees and pretty yards with fences.

Can anybody help me with the title or the author of a book that was published a year or three ago? In the first scene a couple comes out of the church where they have just gotten married (It's on an island --Nantucket, I think), get into a limousine to ride a couple of blocks to their reception and are killed in a crash. The description of the crash is particularly beautiful, all gossamer tulle floating around the passenger compartment as their skulls are being bashed in. The writing lets you see it all in slo-mo. I didn't read the book but heard the opening scene read in a book review on the radio. That first scene has never left me, and I'd like to find it, but I can't remember the title or the author. Does anyone recall?

You find out she is still being held by the serial killer at the very end. Thank you so much for your help. I have spent hours online and can't find it.

Looking for a YA book from the late 80s or early 90s

Hello, I am looking for a YA romance from the lates 80s or early 90s. It likely was purchased from a scholastic magazine. The premise is a teenage girl—possibly a sophomore—tried out and made the football team as a kicker. The QB and his girlfriend had just broken up, and the QB started paying her attention. Another football player pestered her all of the time, and ended up helping to teach her how to improve her football game. The QB ended up getting back together with his girlfriend, and it ended up the female kicker had fallen for the player who had been pestering her. Turns out, he had liked her, too, and they ended up together. Can anyone help me find this book title?

I read a book in middle

I read a book in middle school, and to this day I cannot forget it. I think it had a grey front cover. I just remember it being around the beginning to middle of the book and it was a fairly young boy and his sister (and their parents, they might have had another sibling, I dont remember), but the brother, sister, and the brothers friends were out exploring in some weird tunnel. The sister got hit by a car and it is extremely tragic. It goes through how the brother blames himself, at such a young age, and how his parents are torn apart. It also goes to his sisters point of view and how she sees a white light and goes through that. I think it explains her near death experience. This is all I can remember, but it had a grey cover and it was one of the best books I have read in my life- 10 years later and I'm trying to find out what it was so I can reread it!!!

Fantasy Book I read in middle school

Hi I've been looking for this book hoping its not a figment of my imagination because the same year I checked it out from my middle school library, I went to go back to look for it and there was no record of it. I can't remember BIG details but its a girl and her best friend who want to train to become soldiers for their town? And there also exist healing magic that everyone looks down upon. She visits a healing doctor in which she becomes somewhat interested in magic. at one point and she finds out she can actually use magic herself but doesn't want to tell anyone. I believe this magic involves talking to plants. The cover of the book, the print is a girl holding a leaf to her chest. The hard copy of the book is just a brown book with the outline of a leaf in gold.

Adding more details. During

Adding more details. During the book its mentioned that a leaf fell from a tree which the girl found odd because it was too early for the trees leafs to be falling. At the end of the book when she uses some power to talk to the trees and plants around her and she and her friends are safe, she realized the leaf was gone but it had imprinted itself on her chest. She can feel it turn cool and warm. (Im sad I can remember so many vague details of the book but not the exact plot or anything else)

Fictional

I remember reading a chapter book in elementary school, About two twins who are in a private school, they were dropped in off there because there parents are explorers, we’ll they come up missing and the kids have to go to a uncle they have never meet, his name is Wolf. He has a missing leg I think, He’s rich and owns a island. The kids end up lost in it and they fine a tree house. Inside they fine out Wolf was married and had a kid, the girl twin is his kids, her mom ends up dead because of an attack of an animal on the island I think, So the two twins are actually cousins. And for some reason men are after something that Wolf has and are chasing the kids too, hunters to think. I really would like to buy and reread The book if anyone has an idea What the tittle might be. I’ve been looking for years but came up with nothing.

Children's Anthology (Folklore?)

I'm looking for a children's anthology, I would have been 7 - 10 when I read it so we're talking late 90s/early 20s - but I don't think it was necessarily new. One of the stories was Baba Yaga, I remember that much - a witch that was a house on chicken legs and a pessel and mortar...? There was another about a kid who had to babysit a young boy who had big eyes (like oil...?) and then some scary stuff happened? And one about a girl who gets abducted (she has a tennis racket maybe?) by man in a car, but then its aliens and eating jelly substance and bubble cars? It's vague in my head. Anyone?

Short and Shivery

Could be Short and Shivery, I had a few of those books from scholastic book fairs

Book about a genius girl named Violet, age about 8 to 12.

I read the book in 1959 when I was in the Marine Corps at Cubi Point, Subic Bay, Philippines. The Naval base was built in 1951 so I believe the book would have been published in the 1950s, but not later than 1959. The book was about 200 pages, more or less. The book was probably written for ages 11 to young adults and written to be amusing. I think Violet was in grade school but possibly early Jr High. The title might have been “Violet” except I cannot find the book by that title. About all I remember Violet was in a Shakespeare school play and rewrote or reinvented her part. I recall the boy playing the other part was confused because she didn't follow the script. However, every time Violet spoke she will end with the proper cue so the boy could say his part. I suppose it was one of the parents that asked someone if that was the way Shakespeare wrote it, implying that is not how he or she remembered it.

I’m not sure if it was a book

I’m not sure if it was a book, but it was a fairy/folk tale. I listened to it as part of these tapes we used to have. I remember there was a woman (a witch?) who was locked in a jail cell, but she drew a picture on the wall that came to life and helped her escape. If anyone knows the name or remembers any more details, they would be much appreciated.

This response is way late

Not sure if you’re still going to end up seeing this after 2 years, but this sounds to me like Pan’s Labyrinth. A girl ends up being trapped in her room and draws a door on her room leading to another place, allowing her to escape. This could also be that Barbie movie where the girl paints pictures on her wall of a beautiful town and ends up walking through the wall and into that place. I don’t think I’m being very helpful but those are two that cake to mind right away.
That is literally all that I can remember! Thanks!

Finding a short story

So In my American lit class in college there was a short story about this woman (pretty sure she was gay?) and her aunts come over to talk to her about not seeing her mother and they play billiards and she sort of notices how sturdy the women in her family are?????

Sturdy women

I can't pinpoint a specific story, but the mention of aunts, sturdy women, and the author possibly being gay makes me think it may be something by Dorothy Allison. She's marvelous! Definitely American, so it would make sense that you read her in lit class. Her stories are scattered around a bunch of anthologies and collections, so it may take you a while to find it. I'm STILL looking for one where she talks about going out with her friends and having only five dollars in her pocket but acting brave (I'm garbling it, but it was good)--I met her at a literary conference a few years ago and should have asked her what the heck I was remembering, but I didn't. Oops.

Need help finding a book

I was read a book by my teacher in 2008. I remember the book looking kind of old with a made up word for the title, maybe a yellow book cover. If I recall correctly, there is a boy and another kid (i think a girl) that i think magically travel to another reality/world which they think is all made up. They have a male guide of some sort. There are a lot of made up words and creatures (its definitly not narnia), i recall the story to be surreal. It's only one book, not super lengthy. They may have at the end realized that this magical world is real and have to save it. Details given may be a bit off but thats how I remember the story. Thank you in advance for any help given. :)

I'm looking for a book about a girl who pretended to be teacher at an all girls school and has to solve a murder mystery about some chick who used to have the room who was supposedly murdered by her boyfriend? There's a character named Eli Starr and I know he kissed her in the library during a party where the all boys school came over. Another teacher helps the main character (the only character who's name I know is Eli Starr) solve the mystery by using a Ouija board. The murderer turns out to be the doctor who actually got the chick pregnant. I think she was a student but I'm not sure. The cover had water reeds in it and had pastel colors to it. It starts out with a grandfather dying and the grandson moves him and his new wife to the family farm to take over the farming. Deals with the trials and tribulations of farm work. Also deals with different things like a miscarriage and someone getting injured and the neighbors come to help out. any help is appreciated.

i can't remember the name of this book

A bbok about a girl who witnessed her boyfriend's death.. She doesn't cope well and leaves to NYC. After a few years she stumbles across her late boyfriend brother and he saves her from herself and her current bad relationship.. They become a couple and they also become a preforming duo..

I can't remember the book title or author

The book is set in the South and is about a woman who lives in a farmhouse with her mother. The woman finds an unknown man with amnesia in the woods. In an attempt to see if the man is suffering any brain damage that might explain the amnesia she takes him to the hospital to get either an MRI scan or maybe it a cat scan? during the scan the man shorts-circuits the machine but is perfectly fine. later on in the book it is revealed that he was an angel. Please help me find the name of this book. I want to read it again. I remember reading it when I was in middle school which was around the year 2010-2012. The book may have been published before those years though. I have searched Google with the keywords and have come to a dead end. Please Help!

Book title inquiry

I am looking for a novel but I forgot the title. The story is about a detective who went into prison where the people he put behind bars are also inside the same prison. That's all I remember.

I need helping finding a childhood book.

As a kid I read this book. And I’m just curious and want to find it again for my sister. It was about a little girl with red curly hair that liked ponies. She had a hourse and brought it to school with her. Can you help?(once again it was an old book but it was level 1 reading so it was quite easy)

Maybe Pippi Longstocking

Pippi Longstocking? Taking the horse to school sounds like her, but her red hair was in pigtails.

Kids/youth book with time jumping

I am searching for a book when I was a kid, about 15-20 years ago. I could really use your help identifying the book, because I don't remember too many details about it. It is about a girl/young woman and a boy/young man. They somehow get sent back in time, to different locations and eras, and have to find a way to get back home. I don't remember if they were sent on some mission, or if being sent back in time were some sort of accident. I think I remember their names being something like "Siri" and "Bjørn", at least in the Norwegian translation, but I could be mistaken. There is one scene where they are sent way back, and encounter some kind of tribe. The tribe is not friendly at first, but are amazed when the girl starts singing "Amazing Grace". There is one scene in another era where the girl has been captured, and the prison guards are about to rape her. She escapes just in time by making another time jump. I think that it might be a magic ring that allows them to time jump? The boy and the girl is separated in time I think, and later on the girl sees a corpse that she understands is the boy. I don't remember how he died.  I'm sorry that I don't remember more details, but I am really hopeful that someone might recognise it, and maybe tell me the name of the book!

Looking for a book i read awhile ago

Hello I'm 18 and I'm looking for a book i read at least 5 years ago. Despite having read it as a kid it wasn't very childlike at all and dealt with a lot of mature content. Unfortunately i remember almost nothing aboht it other than its fictional, set in WW2, and it follows the path of at least two maybe more characters and they eventually all meet up and then get split up again. I remember one of them was a french orphan named mark who escaped/ran away from his orphanage because the caretaker was really abusive. And the other main chatacters were a young boy and his older sister who's names i cannot recall but I'm pretty sure theyre also orphans. I really liked the book and if someone knows it or knows how to help me find it i would really appreciate it!

Book

I believe the book you are referencing to is written by Morris Gleitzman. I think it might be 'once'.

Could it be?

This description reminds me of The Silver Sword by Ian Serraillier. Kids from a family who have been split up from their dad (mum is dead) travel from Poland with another boy, all trying to get to Switzerland.

What is the name of book?

The book is about group of friends in high school (I think it is one girl an three boys). She is working in family restaurant and in love with one of her friends, but she is not saying anything. Then some boy comes in town and she goes out with him, and later marries him, but she is stil in love with her friend...I know that at the end he gots a chid with some girl and build a house, and she comes back in town to be with him leaving her husband. I think that plot goes somehow like this

Book

book about a young women who falls through a storm shelter cellar door in the middle of a field and is trapped. She ends up giving bith to a baby boy. Years later she finds her way out only to find out her sister has married her husband. It was a book with 2 stories in it and I think it was a ya book.

Book I read in elementary school

I vaguely remember reading a book in elementary school about some kids with terrible abusive parents. There was some guy — maybe a step-brother, maybe just an older brother, I don’t know — who would make one them draw a picture of a house, but if the kid screwed up even the tiniest bit he or she would have to start the entire thing over. I feel like there was something about one of the girls having a super long name and something about monogrammed clothes or something, but I might be imagining that. I think at the end the parents climb Mount Everest and die. That’s all I’ve got.

Is it the willoughbys? I

Is it the willoughbys? I never read the book but since the movie came out it sounds a bit like that.

help - I need the title of the book

I'm hoping someone can help me. The book was published in the last 15 years or so and it's about five older siblings, all brothers, who I believe spend a brief time with their father in his home prior to his death. Then it follows the repercussions of inheritance. There are other twists, but I cannot remember them. Thanks.

Horror fantasy fiction book read in the late 90s

I am looking for a book I once owned, i can't remember the title or the author so hoping someone out there has read it and can help me. The story is about a group of strangers who all won a competition for an holiday to Mexico (I think) they collect their tickets from a portakabin in the desert. The holiday is a trap as they all have some ability that is needed, one of the characters (I think is called Danny) has the ability to sense when a person is about to lose something, in his everyday life he'd follow ppl and take their wallets when they dropped them. There is another couple in the story, an older man with a prosthetic foot, and I think another young woman. The idea of gathering them together is to bring back quetzalcoatl. I hope this is enough info as I have literally been looking for years! Many thanks

Autobiography or a memoir not sure

I once read a small purple book back in 2010 it was about a boy whose mother marries again after the death of his father I think. The step father beats on the boy and mistreats him and then the step father's sister goes to live with her brother she is also just as cruel as her brother after the boy's mother dies he runs from home or he's kicked out I'm not sure ....please anybody know that book I've been searching

Can’t remember the name

There is a boy who tells stories about people in his town. One story is about when he to a girl to his neighbor’s to watch him kill chickens and she steals a chicken head. There’s a story about his deaf Native American friend. There’s a story where his neighbors built a house of concrete so that it would never catch on fire but one day it caught on fire. One story invoked his friend getting stuck in an auto mechanic cleaning area and the mechanic used his arm to stop the acid causing him to lose the arm. And the last part of the book was when he snuck into the castle in the town and met the owner and the owner showed him all of the weird fish experiments he was doing. I read the book in Texas around 2001 if that helps.

Boy on suspension bridge (not current best seller)

I'm seeking a book of juvenile or YA reader level published probably between 1950 - 1960 about a boy who runs away from home (or is perhaps orphaned) and takes refuge in a utility room at the top of a tower of a suspension bridge. He spends nights exploring the bridge structure and is eventually spotted as some sort of "phantom."

May have found it!

According to the Loganberry Books "Stump the Bookseller" forum, there's a book from 1938 called "The Boy Who Lived On London Bridge" that fits this description. It's by Rupert Sargent Holland. If you google it, be sure to put the entire title in quotation marks (as above); otherwise you mostly get really sad modern true stories of homeless guys living in bridges and getting kicked out.

Children's book

I'm looking for a children's book that I read when I was younger. The title i believe was something witch or something magic. The cover had a green background with a girls head showing, she may or may not have been red haired. It was about a young girl who had magic, and her cat suddenly turns human, and refers to hands as monkey hands. Somehow their neighbors are involved, and one of them falls in love with her cat, but gets put off by her cat-like tendencies. Eventually the girl tells the guy that as long as the cat-girl has food and is allowed to sit in his lap and be petted from time to time, then she will be happy, and fine. There may also have been an evil villain that the girl has to fight.

Book I read a decade ago

I read this book at least 8 years ago at a library and haven't been able to find it since. It was a love story of sorts. Historical fiction. Where this girl is sent to this farm and she's supposed to marry this boy. He does horse racing. Everyone races. She falls in love with his brother. Who like airplanes. It was set around when airplanes and flying was a recent concept I think. World War era. The brothers' father was in a wheelchair. There was a scene where she goes to a dance with the guy who she's "supposed to be wity" and at the end of the evening leaves in a car with the other one never to return. Something like that. It was heavy on the love triangle. Heavy on the racing. That's all I remember.

Replica

I’m pretty sure that’s the Replica series! And she has a crescent shaped birthmark/tattoo, right?

What book is this?

I read this series a while ago and I absolutely loved it. I think I borrowed it from my school library but I can’t remember clearly, it wasn’t too long ago but I guess I’ve read one too many books lately, it’s jumbled my memory. It takes place on earth in the future, about 300 years from now if I remember correctly, but I may be wrong on that. There is very little water left on Earth, and the setting seems to be at the top of the basin that used to be one of the Great Lakes. The main character is a teenage girl with a burn scar on her face. Her and her mother were midwives. At the edge of their village is a wall, and on the other side of that wall is a city. The people inside the wall are extremely inbred, and genetic issues have begun to arise, so every month the first so many children born must be turned over to the city, and are raised inside the wall. One day the main character’s parents are arrested and taken inside the wall. She goes after them to rescue them. She wears a red cloak to disguise herself as a servant. Eventually she ends up falling in love with the city leader’s son, if my memory serves me right, his name is Leon. Some other stuff goes down but I can’t recall the details, and her and Leon end up fleeing. They get separated and cross the desert and then find themselves in this little town run by women. This is where the main character and Leon are reunited. The main character learns that her grandmother used to be the leader of this town. There are very few girls born in this town and nobody can leave or they die. They later learn it’s because their water source was contaiminated from an old fish farm that used chemicals to only produce male fish. It was causing the babies that should have been female to be male instead, these males were infertile, and when one was autopsied, it was discovered that he had fully formed female reproductive organs. As for why they couldnt leave, they were surrounded by a plant that was essentially contaminating the air with highly addictive drugs. If they left they died from withdraw. The only way to leave was to take the plant with them and chew/smoke it as they left to slowly ween their bodies off of it. The entire town leaves their home and heads back to the main character’s home, where they raise a rebellion and blow up the wall. Also somewhere along the story the city government kidnaps the main character and steal her ovaries to farm her eggs in order to use them towards the whole their limited gene pool issue.

The story is of a native boy coming into manhood and he goes out in the wilderness and comes across a wolf who's leg is stuck in a bear trap. The boy earns the trust of the wolf and saves him. I Don't Know The Name of This Book

i dont remember what the book is about, I read it a while ago when I was in like elementary school (I read at advanced levels though and it's not a children's book). the cover was a light tan/brown with a really plain looking tree without leaves whose branches had blue bottles at the ends. at one point I think a girl falls off a really dangerous bridge and hits her head, in a place with a bunch of other kids. i think the kids thought the area was haunted because another person had fallen off the bridge and died. don't remember if the girl died after she fell or not :///

I cannot find the name of a book. It is about a two twin girls are pulled into the future because there are these guys that need the one twin's help because she is a genius. They intended to only pull the one twin but ended up pulling both of them because they have identical DNA. Also, one of the scientists that pulled the girls has twin boys. One of the boys died and the other lived. The one that lived "replaced" or took his dead twin's name so even his dad did not know that the one he thought was dead actually wasn't.

The book talks about this girl who goes into the human world after being kicked out from her world. At one point, she's living in–I think–somewhere... Underground. I know that she goes down a flight of steps to reach it. Also, in the story there was a yacht party which she attended. There was a guy there and he supposedly had a girlfriend. But the MC found his girlfriend cheating on him. Also, at the end of the yacht part, she was standing on the railing and the guy goes to see her. Then after they finish their conversation, she goes on and disappears. My memory of this book is very vague, but I do remember one of the copies of the books, the cover had a guy walking and holding the girl bridal style. That's all I can remember

I’ve been trying to find this book for a while because the plot is amazing. It was about a girl with a huge gash on her cheek and she covered it up with tons of makeup and her hair cut in an odd way. She meets a boy in a coffee shop, I think his name might be luke, and they both try and find what happened to her sister I think. But it thrns out that her sister was the one with the gash on her cheek and the girl didn’t actually have it. She witnessed it when she was very young and they were all in a fire and she was saved by the boy, who is actually older in real life. I can’t remember it and I don’t know if I’m explaining it right!!!

While this is not the book

While this is not the book you are looking for (sorry! but this may help someone else), there is a similar plot in Green Dolphin Street, a novel by Elizabeth Goudge (1944). The similarity is that the man is in love with one sister but proposes to the other sister by a miscommunication (it's set in the time of letters being sent by ships). And the sadness that he and his love experience, as he must honor his (mistaken) proposal. It's set in the 1800s in New Zealand.

A couple lines from the book are "For Jenny had an itchy foot, Jenny liked to travel" about the older salesclerk in the story, and "I'll always be your girl Danny-one of your many girls" says the main character., and "She has a dozen suede jackets" about a minor character

I really want to remember this book. I think the title has something to do with "bees". I don't remember the plot or the characters, I just remember that there is a girl that her life is changing because her dad left her with her mother. Her mom became crazy ever since and always tie her long hair so high and always tell the girl to walk straight and raise her head and be a strong women. The plot is somehow confusing and I remember that sometimes there are clouds and bees at the front of their house. Star Bright!

I feel like the name of the book was either Star Bright! Or Star… Bright! Something like that. Anyway, it has been driving me crazy trying to find this book for the past several years. I had this book in the late 1980s/early 90s as an adolescent, it was about a girl who had low self-esteem and thought very little of herself, had no boyfriend, etc. Then she makes a wish or something and wakes up the next morning and she looks totally different in the mirror, she eventually gets the most popular guy to go out with her, etc. Then an angel visits her then and in the end and she finds it’s just because she had more self-confidence that everyone was more attracted toward her, but that she never *actually* had looked any different. The whole message was that beauty comes from within. I think it was some type of Christian book, because I remember reading that on the inside cover at some point, though I don’t remember the book having any overt religious references besides the presence of the angel. Please help! What is this book?

According to what I can find, it was published in 1985, but it must have been reprinted in the 1990s at some point, because that's when I read it, along with some other books by the publisher Regal Books (I think I was given a bundle of them at a church event).

I cant remember this book

So there was this book that my friends and I found at Hastings(way before it closed down) called Book of Shadows, it had a black cover and the title was in gold writing(or silver), nothing too fancy and I remember in the first pages it was about the rules of Wicca, and even about the goddesses then it would go on to talk about the ingredients and what each color stood for, then there were spells that had all the ingredients needed and it would have instructions. This was about 7 years ago, and I've been trying to look for it since the book we had disappeared one day and we could never find it. I think the author was male.

Probably this one

It was probably Book of Shadows by Gerald Gardner. It's been republished a bunch of times so you may not find the cover you remember, but I definitely remember that cover too (from the late 1990s maybe?). Another very common (male) author of books on Wicca is Raymond Buckland; can't remember if he had one titled Book of Shadows, but it's likely. Best of luck!

Revolutionary War Spy novel set in Fairfield Co. CT

This 1880's novel was about a brother and sister with both Tory and patriot friends. The girl's name was Desire and her brother was finally suspected of being a spy, but it was the girl all along. She attracted men like flies and Tory men were happy to tell her anything that would help their case.

Can’t remember much about it

I have something in my head of a book I have read. A few kids, two sisters I think. live in a house, big garden with a tree to climb or tree house, neighbour kid come through/over the fence to play, I think there is a cat. ( it’s not to kill a mocking bird, but similar with the kids) they go off investigating something, go to a site where they are building new houses, it’s hot and the tarmac is hot. I think the kids live with mother. Really vague I know but it’s driving me mad.

Blue Book

So it was about a young (10/11) girl and her parents were going through a divorce so they send her to her grandparents. She finds out her grandma has cancer. With her cousins, she goes into the woods when she’s not supposed to and meets some boys. She has a whole story figured out around the things that happen. She has “blue days” which she finds out in the end of the book is depression. It would be nice to read it again so I could distinguish between reality and fantasy that she creates. When I searched this on google is showed a response on here, but I couldn’t go through 5 pages of submissions. Could we add a search bar?

Try Your Browser's Search Function

Hi Brooke- While we don't have a search bar for particular blog posts, I do have a suggestion. At each page of this post, try the search function within your browser (hit control-F, for example). You can then search the text on that page for any instances of a word or phrase you're looking for. Let us know if that works for you. -Norm, NYPL

May have found it!

Based on the Goodreads summary, I think it's Some Kind of Happiness by Claire Legrand. I've never had much luck with Google for books, but recently I've discovered that it helps if you put each detail in its own set of quotes and then include the term fiction (not in quotes). For yours I used: "blue days" "cancer" "cousins" fiction. It's not 100% effective, but since "blue days" was such a specific term it worked this time--yay! When the first search doesn't work, adding more within-their-own-set-of-quotes details (or taking out ones that don't seem to be helping) can narrow it down.

Children’s book about a butterfly

Looking for the title of a book that was read to me in the 80s. It’s a children’s book with beautiful illustrations whose main character is a butterfly living in a house in the woods. Different animals knock on the door to come in and she doesn’t refuse any of them. I believe a bear comes in and breaks the house it’s so big. Thanks for your help!

An invitation to butterfly ball?

True Story, killed husband and used lye

Story I am looking for is a based on a true story novel written about an area in WA state; or possibly MA. Read it in the late 90s. Wife murders her abusive husband and disposes of his body with lye. Her brother is accused of being the killer. Part that really sticks out is that the author invented a traveling salesman character for the story and hinted that he might be the father of her twins and not her husband.

What's the title???

There was a book a read for school a few years ago and I really liked it. There was a society with rich black people and white slaves, or poor people. A black girl and white boy were best friends and fell in love. I remember that the white boy's sister commits suicide by walking in front of a bus, and then at some point the black girl is kidnapped and she gets pregnant with her white friend's/lover's baby. Her parents want her to get an abortion but she refuses, so her father has the boy get hanged. She keeps the baby. That's all I can remember, please help I want to read it again! :)

I think this is it!

Naughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman i believe!

Looking for a science fiction novel published before 1964

It may have been what was called then a Juvenile but the library shelved with regular books. It was about a young man who could take over the minds of animals. It was probably published in the 50s or maybe even earlier.

Teen Spy

I read a book about a blonde teen/tween in about 2013/2014. The main character was a female and was very involved with code breaking. It was a series and I know that one of the books involved a cover that had something to do with cooking or baking.

Hi! I’m not sure if this is

Hi! I’m not sure if this is the book your’e looking for but The Candymakers has a tween spy girl with blonde hair, and there is lots of candy on the cover! Hope this could help! :-)

Book I read a long time ago.

I remember reading a book when I was about five, I think, and it was about a girl who went into a different world through water or something, and she liked that wold better because the other one smelled bad or something, and anyway in the other world that she went to, the season is different and it is like winter or something, and she is barefoot all the time I think, and she lived in a treehouse thing, And I know that she lived in a forest in that world. Oh, and also in the first world that she was in, she was running from someone I think, and she was like on a farm or in the country or somethin, and anyways back in the other world she went on a journey, and she met the Highnesses or something with a title like that, but while she was waiting to meet them she looked through a rock thing that her dad gave her which has a hole in it and that you are supposed to look through to see things for what they really are, and she looked through it and I'm pretty sure she found out something about someone in her group, but then when she was meeting the Highnesses there was something about their crowns I think, and then I am pretty sure she spends some time in like a cave with a person who cant travel between the worlds but they are friends or something, and yeah, I've been looking for this book for like 8 years, and have found nothing on it, so if someone could help me out, that would be great. Oh, and also it was kind of in like the same style thing as Ella Enchanted and I was reading that as well.

Coraline? she gets a rock

Coraline? she gets a rock with a hole in it that shows her what things really are and she goes to another world as well. Uh it's a horror book though.

NEED HELP

Okay so it's been a few years since I've read this book, it's definitely one of my favorites. It has an orange cover & all white subdivision style homes on it. It's about a teenage boy, who's father owns the community. A new girl moves to the neighborhood who is sort of a rebel. The boy is only allowed to make A's & I think they're all made to take medicine in the community. I remember at the beginning he was listening to something on his headphones then hears the mysterious girl on her skateboard? By the end of the book I believe they're trying to escape the community. The boy also mentions his mom left his dad? Please help if you can, I love this book & haven't bern able to get it off my mind since.

Please help

I am looking for a book about a man who died I think of old age and was rebirthed or reincarnated into abother world where he kept all his memories of his previous life. His family owned a leather shop where his mother made handcrafted leather bags to people and he was 13 I think when he started helping with sales. The magician's or sorcerers in this world have a test where the touch you with a old relic to test or unlock your power but it had negative effects and would sometime destroy that person's ability to use magic. He protected himself with a kind of leather that negates magic and then went on from there to go to a school of magic if anybody can help I would be ever grateful.

Romance

I’m looking for a young adult romance book that I read several years ago. It’s about a girl with two brothers and the brothers’ best friend I think his name was Hunter? She’s in love with him but isn’t allowed to be with him because of the whole bro code thing and he loves her too but can’t. Anyway, fast forward and they end up having sex in a mountain house and I think she gets preggo and her brothers flip and they’re all at college and PLEASE HELP!!

Romance novel

Hello, sorry I remember so little about this book, I've never finished reading it (I remember I borrowed it from someone while away on holiday). I spent weeks looking for it to no avail. All I remember is that the main character was a redheaded woman who was a car mechanic (I think, possibly some other stereotypical "manly" job) in Ireland. It was very Danielle Steel style, but I can't seem to find it on her list of books. Thank you for your help!

Romance Novel Title

I don't know Danielle Steel, but this sounds like one of the books in a Nora Roberts series, possibly a trilogy. Unfortunately, I don't remember which one (although I'm pretty sure it was about sisters), but at least that gives you a starting place. It is not recent. Hope this helps.

Is this a book or a movie?

I dont remeber if its a movie or a book bit its about a man who has an affair gets the woman pregnant then kills hers to cover his tracks but there is a dairy the woman left behind that gives clues to who he is without saying his name.

Love the book

The story is a book based around black characters... I remember very little but that there is a young woman who moves to this place and there is a black man with blue eyes. It has a sexual under current from what I remember but other than that I genuinely don't know any more I would love to find this book read it whilst in hospital having my daughter.

Outlaw

I read the book in Icelandic and a direct translation of the title would be outlaw. It's a story of a young white girl's life who lives in Africa, she is very troubled, has close to no friends in schools (i believe it's a boarding school, i think thats what its called). Then her family decides it's time for her to move to England, which she does not agree with at all. Side notes her parents fight a lot, her mother moves to England before she does, she ends up with her fathers friend, a real shady guy who has a pregnant girlfriend, she also has an older sister, there's more i can mention but i think it's enough for now.

I have to books that need finding: 1, a comic book released from the 1980s to the late 2010s. This book is primarily in the color blue. I don't know the author or the name.
