This is an update of a previous post by Sharon Rickson.

It can be tough to remember the title and author of a book you read a long time ago—even if it was a book that was really important to you. Fiction is cataloged by author and title, not by subject or plot line, which makes identifying books by just their storyline difficult.

Readers often ask librarians for help finding these kinds of books. And we can’t figure out the mystery every single time, but we do have a few tricks to help find the answer.

First, pin down everything you can remember about the book, plot, character names, time period in which the book may have been published, genre, etc. All these details are clues in identifying the title and author of the book.

Online resources can help with your search for a half-remembered book, even if all you have is a basic plot line. Searching yourself is a good place to start; then, you can post to a listserv or discussion forum, where someone might recognize it. Or, last but not least, leave a comment on this post!

Before You Start

Try Google! Type in everything you can remember about the book — as in, “picture book rabbi animals advice yiddish” — and scroll through the results. (That’s a real-life example of a book a patron was asking for: It Could Always Be Worse by Margot Zemach.)

You can also try googling one key detail you remember from a book. One of our librarians solved a book mystery by searching “USS You-Know-Who” — the name of a boat in the story that the patron happened to remember. (Another real-life example: She Flew No Flags by Joan Manley.)

Searching a book

I don't know who's the writer but all I remember is that the title was dark red colored and the cover was beige and the title was so big that it covers pretty well the book and it was written in "Times New Roman" style and there were colored splaches too , it's a fameous book also . the name of the rose? there were a lot of books with that look, but that had a huge title... and there were coloured roses, red writing, beige cover. some Sidney Sheldon, and Harold Robbins books had that style cover as well... remember what it was about?

I cant remember the title author or plot from a book I read in middle school. All I can remembr is theres these two men who create something for the woman they both love who they've had relations with. What they made her is either a gem or music box. She ends up having a daughter but neither o them know whos the father . She dies before they could find out. The daughter grows up she has a dog lives not too far from a dog park, That's it. Please help , thanks.

I read this book a while back and forgot what the name of it is and would love to find it again. I can only remember a few things about the book but, it has a black cover, about 300 pages long, made in the last to years, has questions after every chapter, it's nonfiction, and has a three letter title ( first word starts with a c, second n, third m).

I read this book twice a while ago however I cannot remember the writer and the title. The girl made a road trip to come collecting her dead foster brother’s belonging from his best friend’s place in a garage he owns. Her family blames him for the death of their son. I think her car dies so she’s stuck staying with him. They rekindle their sparks and SPOILER ALERT the brother really isn’t dead but he’s a psychopath who is in love the main male character. He’s hiding himself closed by in the attic. I think main character’s lives in a small recelusive place in Wisconsin. He owns the garage as a auto repairer. The psychopath brother ended up killing the old man who was friend with the main guy and tuck him in the trunk. They didn’t find the body till few days later.

I hate to ask here but it seems everyone else is and some have gotten help. I remember reading a book series about dragons in the late 1990s. The main character was a boy, I remember there being a rocky cliff. I believe he tamed them. I have searched and I can’t find anything that seems to fit. I read this was during a traumatic time in my life so most of the details are just not there which I know isn’t helpful. I have 3 boys I know would enjoy the series if I could figure it out. Is there a way to search decade of publication of topic? Thank you.

Investigative journalist

Help appreciated please - I read a book in England in the 1970s. It was written by a white American journalist based in Washington DC - she took meds to change her skin colour to black so she could investigate racism. I thought it was called ‘Skin Deep’ but had no luck with research. Maybe the title was changed for the English market. Hope someone has a better memory than me. Thanks in advance.

Fantasy/horror childrens book

I read a book between 2004-2007, I think, and I can't remember neither title nor author, but here is the plot as far as I recall. A brother and sister go to live with their aunt in the countryside and the little sister disapears in the big house. She somehow turns up in this creepy old television set in the attic, where a clown is hosting this show and lots of other children seem to be trapped in the tv show as well. As far as I recall, the book was part of a series, and I remember the cover being white and with a small image of a clown in the center. Can anybody help? :-)

A woman from California(maybe San Fran) arranges a trip to the Far East for 10 or so of her friends and somewhat friends. She's familiar with some of the tour guides and they have a few set backs on their journey and I think one person dies? I think it was a female author.

history romance

The heroine was an illegitimate daughter of a youngest sister, her mother died at birth and she was raised by her uncles. she falls in love with an aristocrat and somehow tricks him into marrying her (not sure what exactly happened, but I think they were discovered kissing or something and had to be married), right after the wedding he takes her to his country estate and leaves her there alone after arriving. She tries to make a life to her there and one day she is out on a walk when she is kidnapped. She is taken to the Captitan, an old enemy of her husband, only to discover that is her youngest of her uncles, of whom the family doesn't like to talk about. her uncle takes her back to her husband house, only to discover that her husband her some to some sense and returned to rescue her...There story is set in the 1/2 of the 19th century...it was a witty one, so I would like to read it again, thank you !

I read this book years ago and i cant remember the title nor the author. It must have been published in the 1980s or before. It was a story about a girl who was with her sister, i guess... Thats all i can remember... The edition i had was a hardcopy... Old and faded with a pale green cover... I would be able to recognize the name and plot if i found the book, has anyone heard of it?

So I really don't remember much about this book but I wanna say the title was something to do with birds being caged. The girl is being kept in her village maybe being hidden there. At one point she goes through the town gate and finds a companion in the woods. I always remember this being somewhat of a magical book but I really can't remember. Pretty sure the cover was green and had a vine of ivy and possibly a birdcage. Any suggestions would be wonderful!

Book about a girl, who belongs to the house of the ram. She is about to come of age and be inducted by her father. It is a small villager hey share with the house of the eagle. She doesn’t like what their coming of age mission was and tries to run away, anyways later in the series we learn of three men who spend time in He dark world or other world or whatever the name of the place they pass through using the dagger is called and only one of them is in the real world at a time, and the others travel through the other world later in the series we hear about Desmond who I think switched the minds of adults with the minds of children. He ran away and invented a bunch of stuff. Anyways in the series they also find out that the different houses are disappearing and they find them in the other world killed but not dead because of the slowed time. With their weapons so they have to get them out. In each of the houses cave they found clues as to where they were like 20 steps left then 75 steps then right and you’ll find the hous members. In the series they spend time in japan and meet a woman who the boy ( house of eagle ) learns can heal by looking at the body and seeing a grid pattern and can heal you, he goes scuba diving and finds the dagger that the girl threw off the bridge because she didn’t want anything to do with it anymore. He takes it a sells it then the girls and old healer woman’s apartment get in fire and they have to escape from the people trying To find the daggers This is what I know honestly I have read so much I might be mixing up books but most of this I am certain is from this book and it’s series please help

Greek gods going to high school or college

It started with one of the gods or demi gods getting a letter saying they were required to go or something and got picked up and taken to Olympus. I remember a party and a dress that got ruined. I never finished it which is why I am looking for it.

Hi! I read this book when I was about 13, so nearly 7 years ago. I don’t remember the two main character’s names, but one of them (super mysterious teenager) starts to fall for this one girl. But of course he’s very nonchalant about it. Anyway, they all sneak out a bunch and one day the two boys sneak out to the woods because they can’t find the girl anywhere. Badabing badaboom the girl is hanging by a rope in the woods. I think that the boy that liked her said he thinks it was her dad that did it and used it to say it was suicide or something like that (bc the dad found out about her liking the mysterious boy, ya know?). Anyway I am dying to find this book. I think the picture on the cover is just a woodsy setting.

I read the summary of a thriller/mystery while in indigo (Vancouver, Canada) in the last few months and now I can’t remember the title or author. It is about 2 friends that witness a murder. One is dead and the other is blind and they must work together to figure what happened to solve the crime.

Hi! Lately I’ve been trying to remember the name of this book I read when I was really little. All I can remember is that it was a picture book with detailed, ornate drawings, and I believe large portions of the book were colored orange. I also remember white greyhound-like creatures (possibly wearing clothing) being the characters in the book. I especially remember a page where one of the dogs was crying, I think? I’m sorry I can’t remember any more of it, I might not have even been old enough to read when I had the book. I’d really appreciate it if anybody knew what book this is!!

True story about reunited love..

Hi, I read a book about 15 years ago (i recall it was a smaller than usual size book with a cream cover) based on a true story about a couple who lose touch during one of the wars or Auschwitz and they reunite many many years later. I could swear the book is about stars/wishes (or something similar) which have the ability to basically give someone the gift of getting pregnant. This particular one is watching 3 different people to decide who shall get pregnant. the chapters jump between each of their lives and then the star/wish thing talks from time to time. One couple don't have sex because it turns out the girl got raped by her work colleague. They then get a puppy and the star/wish really wants to choose them but they never have sex to give her the opportunity! In the end I think they do. The other is a girl who has no interest in a relationship but ends up living with 2 guys and has sex with one of them. I çant remember the third story or if there even is a third! Please help I have been looking for years!!!!

I am looking for a book (part of a series?) that was Cinderella’ish in its approach. I really only remember the first part. Girl is promised to an unkind man by her stepmother. Girl escapes to avoid the marriage and as she flees she saves a prince (who has been kidnapped - sack over his head while mounted on a horse). The girl uses her magic/abilities to fight off the abductors. The prince takes her to the palace. She is sent to train with the royal army (swords!). Does this sound familiar to anyone? Many thanks!

It was about an Angel named Grace who volunteered to fall from heaven in order to be near Jesus when he was going to earth to be born. She longed to be near to Jesus, like the star over the manger, however, Grace became a stone when she fell and just sat for many years without even seeing Jesus, until one day Grace was rolled in front of a tomb. When the stone was rolled away Grace saw Jesus and his glory , before he ascended back to The Father. I would love to find this book again if anyone can help. I read it to my own son but lost it when we lost our home in Hurricane Katrina. I would live to have it to read to my grandchildren one day. Thank you kindly!

Ok so all I know about the book I’m trying to find is that it’s about a girl who used to be close with her brother but they grow apart as he gets older and then she walks in his room one time and sees him injecting heroin. Then he panics and tells her not to say anything to her parents and I think she snitches but I’m not sure. Please I cant sleep until I find this book.

I read it's Persian translation like 20-25 years ago. It's the story of a boy who throws a book out and is found guilty and sentenced to be locked up in a room full of books. He can find a way out by reading the books and he can't pick the next book before finishing the one in hand. So he starts reading and when a big enough space is opened for him to go out, he realizes that he doesn't want to and continues reading and the last book is the one he originally had thrown out. Hi ....I have been searching for a long time for this book I read long ago....its a contemporary romance set arnd the time that the twin towers were attacked ...m a former nurse applies to be the travelling cook with a small rock band ..... one of the members is diabetic. ....she finds love with another member .....the twin towers being attacked is also described and there are 3 to 4 other books in the series about the rest of the band members...... the heroine is a widow and her husband is shown to be unfaithful b4 he died ...... please help me find this

A book i could never find

i have little to no confidence this book can be found as i may even be remembering the wrong details as i have read thousands of books to the point were there were no interesting ones left in english but i have always wanted to re read it, the book i'm looking for starts of with this kid who was in most likely high school who one day was bullied by this dude and one day after school this kid meets this bully after school cant remember if it was coincidence or not but the kid punches a brick wall to intimidate him or something and leaves and i think later he goes on to just get stronger for some reason he doesn't know and these people start coming after him i cant remember much more since its one of the first books i read i just remember enjoying it and i wanted to re read it. i just got done reading all the interesting books translated from japanese so i figured i would pay more attention to finding this book again. i also wouldn't mind any book recommendations for newly released books either in english or translated to it. in the meantime i'm going to be switching to music in my freetime.

Looking for childhood book about Bucephalus

Looking for a book about Alexander The Great and his horse Bucephalus. Story is about how as a boy Alexander befriended Bucephalus. It is a children's book I read in the 1960's. Lots of beautiful pictures. I think I remember the cover being white with the horse and maybe Alexander on it. I think the title referred to Bucephalus but I'm not sure.

Looking for a book I read many years ago, pretty sure it was science fiction. It was about this guy that wanted to lose weight. Somehow it taps into some kind of primal man type thing. He not only loses weight becomes strong, faster, etc as he begins to change. I remember specifically him being able to fight well and at least one scene where he was using fighting sticks. Not much to go on. Have been searching on and off for years, drives me crazy, but just no luck.

Story of a teenage boy coming of age after spending his summer learning how to fly. He received a small vial of pearlescent liquid and learned to apply this to his shoulders to grow wings. Okay so I don’t think many people are going to know what I am on about but I have read little books in my time but there are only 2 which are my favourites. I read them when I was back in high school the first is fiction about a child who grows up with out a family and he becomes a serial killer and kills female red heads as some sort of revenge vengance thing. The second is a series of books which I also read in high school and they are about supernatural ish teenagers who are in a secret agency thing and the main girl character has a big investigation in to who her parents are and her dad is the big master mind behind all that happens. I don’t rly remember much about it only a few things like that the book cover had half a girls face and that she fell in love with a guy who was much older and they rode everywhere on a motor bike and that she had to do loads of tests and she had freckles. way back when I was a child I read a book that I was obsessed over that I have nearly since forgotten, but I never got to finish. I don't remember much about the book, all I remember was that the main girl was sheltered and singing caused things to change. a man showed up and she gave him a dull knife used to work with honeycombs and he sung to change the knife to make it sharper so he could carve wood. I also believe that the girl almost drowned at one point? please help this book was so fascinating.

I’m looking for a book series I read as a kid. It’s about these girls and there animal companions and they all go to a school for ballet. And I’m not sure but I think the world they live in was in a bottle. Oh and at the end a the stories they would always have the recipe to treat that one of the girls liked.

hello everyone. i need to find a book but i can't remember anything about it. i'm sure it's a famous children book. i vividly remember two main characters. a boy who was probably an orphan interested in sculpting wooden animals. he was always late for the school because he was distracted by his sculpting on the way to the school and the woods, he was there when the school was closed! and a girl who liked wooden bookmarks very much. they met on the way to the school one day. they became friends. at the end of the book he had a single grape he shared with her by cutting it in half.

Book I read. Teenage girl and her boyfriend staying in a cabin after prom I think. She loses her virginity someone is watching outside. They fall asleep she wakes up to the cabin on fire. Tries to drag her boyfriend out but a beam falls on him. She manages to get outand sees her fathers car driving away. So she runs. Rich family years later looking for there daughter. A woman claiming to be her appears. Falls for the family lawyer brother is arsonist who tries to kill her again. I think the father is actually the uncle who's gay and married the mother after his brother died. I think shes an artist glass maybe but I cant remember could be wrong there.

I'm trying to remember the title of a picture book I remember reading as a kid. I would guess it was published in the 1970s, but it could be the early 80s... The protagonist is a little girl whose father is a sword-swallower (!). He gets hurt during his act and has to go to the hospital. Whether to raise funds for her father's treatment or just to keep busy, the little girl starts to draw beautiful chalk drawings of flowers, trees, and birds on the sidewalks (maybe buildings) nearby. People love them and leave her money and gifts. And, of course, all is well in the end!! I wouldn't be surprised if this book won some kind of illustration award. Thank you!!

I remember reading a YA novel sometime in the 1970’s about a girl who was always preparing herself in case she got kidnapped. I never finished it and I don’t remember a lot of the details. I do remember that one of the ways she prepared herself was by only eating part of her dinner so she could get used to being hungry. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I once read this book that came out in the 70s or 80s about a woman named Erika and her husband bought a house,then they started finding human bones on the property. Eventually,Erika becomes possessed by the house and disappears inside its walls or in another dimension inside the house or something,leaving the husband alone. HI, Back in the 90's I found a book at a Christian bookstore in the sale bin. Read it and loved it but loaned it to someone and never got it back. I remember the title was a year and it was about 3 people chosen by maybe an angel or something to go and live in heaven for a specific number of years. There was an Asian scientist , a California surfer dude type guy and then a girl who I think was a drug addict (not sure on her). They got to live and see and enjoy heaven for this time period and then at the Great White Throne judgment they had to say if they believed or not ( ie: stay in heaven or go to hell).. It was a really good book and I would love to find it again. I have searched all which ways to find it.

This may be a book by Andre Norton, who wrote in the 60s and beyond,with many of her books and stories in the young adult genre. She had several series, and at least some of her books involved native American characters, and time travel, and I think, teleportation.

The main character in the book was a foster girl, 12-14 area. She went to go live with a lady right after her older brother died, and being traumatized she started sneaking out without shoes but always got caught. So then, she met her uncle (i believe his name started with an H) because he lived across the street from the lady that was keeping the little girl. He had a little boy (the main characters cousin) with the same name of the main characters brother who died and eventually became friends. One day, the lady that was caring for the girl couldn’t keep taking care of her because the main character kept running away so, she stays with the people across the street. Because the coal mine was a huge thing then, the little boys dad was at the coal mine. When the little boy and the main character thought that their dad and uncle died at the coal mine, they ran away together. So they run far away from the town, the girl gets caught and the boy gets away so there’s a lot of people freaking out. After months of searching, the boys found inside a train car with his mom whos escaped from either the hospital or insane asylum...

There's a book I'm trying to remember that I read ages ago. I remember the cover had a pair of red spectacles on it (the kind that inventors in movies always have, with the flip-down magnifying glasses), or something very similar. I can't remember a lot of the plot, but I think it was the second book in the series. Basically the two male protagonists kept falling between different hellish dimensions, trying to meet up with each other for survival. I know one dimension had a strict police force, and maybe something to do with lights? The main thing I remember is that, at the end, the protagonists both go to a grammar school in england and end up in a relationship with each other.

I read a book about 2 years ago but can't remember title or author! An American woman who after a hard life goes to Africa after a "calling" with her young son. On a sailing trip, she is shipwrecked and her son presumed dead. An African tribe essentially kidnaps her. With time though, she begins to learn their language and way of life and the leader of one of the tribes wants to take her as a wife so she can bare him a child. There is a dangerous feud between the tribes in the area. Her unborn child is beaten out of her by the leader of another tribe. . In the end, her presumed dead son is learned to be alive and is taken by a (religious?) man who lives on his own in the wilderness and teaches the boy about survival. Once grown up, he comes back and saves everyone.

I was reading a book in high school and I don't remember the name or author. It's about girl looking for her parents. They were teenagers when she was born, and she was raise by her grandparents because somehow the mother thought she died and ran away. I don't remember why the father left but he did. I think to join the military. Anyway, when they baby girl becomes a teenager, she tries to find her parents. She finds them, calls them and agrees to meet them at the airport. I've used Google til I thought I'd go crazy. I'm looking for a children's book that my grandmother used to read to me back in the early 1970s. I think the cover had a mother mouse on it. I *know* there were mice in the book. I'm pretty sure it was about baby animals and their different beds because the one thing I think I remember clearly is the mice having a cozy nest in the attic. Hi I remember a book I read at school which would have been in 1980s. It was a teen novel here a small group of friends were involved in a mystery (it might have been a murder, but I think a criminal gang) in New York. It involved chases in the church/cathedral catacombs and I think one of the adults they trusted was the Canon of the church. It might have been that the leader of the criminals was actually the Bishop. I have no idea of the title or author or anything. Any help would be hugely appreciated!

This book is probably from the 40's or the 50's. A little boy lives on a farm with his parents and maybe his grandparents. I remember he gets the measles and this is back when you had to stay in bed and be quiet, no TV, etc. His mother has never had the measles. The boy, I think his name was Johnny, literally has his hands bound up so he can't scratch. He has occasion to expose his mother to his measles, and he wrestles with his conscience: "I could, but I won't.". Otherwise the book is about him growing up on the farm. I remember old-timey spellings like "cooky" and "good-by". Anybody have any ideas?

I believe you're talking about Swan Song by Robert McCammon. It's a supernatural story set in the aftermath of a nuclear war. Some people inexplicably grow a hard black covering, like a mask, over their heads, commonly referred to as Job's Mask. I am trying to find the name of a book I read years ago. Its a coming of age story about a girl that is the oldest and least favorite twin because her sister nearly died at birth. The setting is an island and she grows up helping her dad as a fisherman. I have been searching for a book about a monk, soldier, and a young woman. The monk and the soldier fell in love with the young lady. While the young lady love the soldier. The monk knows that the girl love the soldier and not her so he wants to separate the girl and the soldier. Basically all I can remember since I have an awful memory, is this girl moves to a new town, goes to a new school and she has kind of a rough time getting used to it. She later on starts liking this guy that goes there, someone from the book thinks it's bad news, pretty sure she has blue hair. I am out of my mind trying to find this book I had when I was young - it is very similar to "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark", but it is not any of those in the series. I vaguely remember some of the stories, including one where a dog turns white due to some scary event, someone getting pulled behind a horse, one involving a Native American and something about a hatchet or tomahawk, and another about a ship where all of a sudden everyone just went missing. It's baffling me. There were small, black and white illustrations.

I don't remember the name or author but I remember this little spoiled rich girl who had lots of nannies (like 22 in a month? or a week or something) taking care of her but she kept chasing them away. The cover is purple with a girl in a tutu 'screaming'. The one nanny made a comment like "You should be the queen of ___ mountain" And the little girl was agreeing until the nanny was like "because you are so spoiled". I don't remember much, but I know the book has stars/star in the title. The cover page was dark blue dotted with stars with an image of a girl laying on her back looking up at them. It was illustrated, not a photo. The girl/main character of the story ran away and went to this abandoned amusement park type of thing and found this dinosaur ride/ structure which was hollow inside and she stayed in it at night. The book was set in the summer time. She ends up meeting this family who didn't have much money and they also stayed at the amusement park when she thought she was all alone there. I don't remember the gist of the book or the outcome but the family was friendly.Please help I have been trying to figure out the name for weeks and this is a last resort.

I read a book 6 years ago, it was a book about a lady who was abused constantly by her step father. He told her not to run away that if she did that he'll rape her sister who was 10 at the time, I guess. This lady eventually got pregnant and he threatened her not to abort the pregnancy so she finally decided to run after she has given birth to the child - a boy - she met a guy on the train who rescued her from a sets of guy that wanted to rape her and took her to an hotel, he saw marks of beating on her body and asked how she got. I guess she said her stepfather used to hit her. The guy later took her to the hospital when she fainted and the stepfather came wanting to claim the child and her but she had to marry the guy and later fell in love with him

I'm looking for a book I read when I was maybe in the 5th grade (so 2003 ish), and I think it was relatively new. It was a novel for young adults/kids, and was probably around 150 pages or so. The cover was a picture of woods, and I think they were Pacific Northwest-y in nature. i think it was called Between, but I can't find it anywhere, so I could be wrong. I think the plot revolves around a sister and her younger brother. I think he had always been sickly, and then they move to the Pacific Northwest (I think), and they live near a wooded area, and it ends up having mythical creatures in it. I think her brother is the king of it?

I'm looking for a 60's children's picture book....can't remember the title, but it ISN'T "The Five Chinese Brothers" !! All I remember is that it somehow involved three Chinese (??) or Oriental guys that are traveling somewhere and, in the course of their adventures, they are inside some kind of mechanical fish. I read this book a long time ago and can't remember the title... I think a boy tries to pickpocket a magician.. he then becomes this magicians apprentice or something. He has to find his own magical rock so he goes to a room in a school of magic which I full of magical rocks. He touches each one but he knows his is not in that room.... later, he sees a rich lady with a large necklace and a stone set in it. He's drawn to it and can tell that that stone is his magical rock. Ok so I had a book long time ago I can't find it anywhere.it was about young lady who got pregnant by her father.(later turned out he wasnt). She ran away and got taken in by a man to a hotel run by his mum. The deal was she helped clean cook they would adopt the baby out.it then turned out that they did this for lots girls. She made a friend there who had a little girl already. If I remember the girls name was tilly. When the girl left she went to the lady's cottage and helper raise the little girl as her friend gone missing.in end the hotel was linked to a mental hospital and a drug place.when the girls had baby's they sold them then placed the girls in one these places. It's bugging me what name of it is. The cover was a light blue. There was a doctor in the village who helped care for the old lady as well and she fell in love with him. A name sally springs to mind as well but not sure. Be great help as was good story. I have a feeling Blackpool or something similar was involved.

I read a book when I was in middle school and have been trying to find it ever since!!!!!! It starts out with a boy who lives in a cabin/house/cottage at the edge of a forest and in the forest there is a magical bush the divides the forest and it stretches the length of the forest. Somehow the boy get through the bush and meet a fire witch. The fire witch is not confident in herself. The book I am searching for was one I read while in middle school. The book cover was like a light blue and it had a coffee mug on it. It was kind of animated. It was about this young girl who had an abusive/aggressive boyfriend. She realized she didn't want to be with him so she took his money and ran away. I believe she ended up at a coffee shop somewhere and the people who worked there let her stay there and gave her a job and I believe she was pregnant. Then her abusive/aggressive boyfriend finds her.

I'm trying to find a book I read a few years ago and can't seem to remember the name, author, or 90% of the characters names. I believe its a YA paranormal thriller from maybe 2017 or 2018. I can't remember the main characters name but the main plot is she has the ability to die once a day and her body will regenerate and she comes back. She is one of the best monster/demon (bounty?) hunters. In the beginning she is in a witches hovel with 3 witches who are playing cards or something and discussing how they will cook and eat the girl. The girl is there on purpose in order to get to a higher bounty monster than the witches that happens to be in one of the witches bedroom. She has an uncle (I think) named Magnus who is on a council for the monsters and runs a hotel for the paranormal peeps and in his basement he has a dungeon for the bad guys but there's a special sword in there that gets stolen by the guy from the witches hovel whom she "caught" and they had locked up and the heroin goes after the guy. The main chic has a wolf or some other animal that is like her sidekick. She lives in a house in the woods that has magic protecting it.

I don't remember too much about this book, all I know is that I finished it before the "next one came out" This would be I would say, between 2013-2015 that I read it, and knowing there was a second book coming. (Ended up forgetting about it obviously.) Anyway, All I remember from the book is that one of the main characters was some kind of royal (most likely the girl) and another one that was just a peasant (At least from what I can remember and it would of most likely been the guy). Ok so I read this book a long long time ago. The girl in the book had a sister who was killed and she inherited her powers. The villain in the first book was Evangeline. In the second book I think it focused on her uncle being in the mob and taking care of her she also went to a Catholic school?? Her best friend was a social worker? Her bodyguard was named Colin and she had fell in love with him but also there was this other guy who was a fairy or something. They traveled to New Orleans where the magic was I guess. Her bodyguard Colin also had a little sister who was paralyzed and couldn't move. Later in the book the girls powers helped her heal and walk...

So the book I'm looking for is a classic. The protagonist works at a book shop.In fact the protagonist's name is never mentioned. At the book shop, they get scripts from a traveler who has documented his travels. They publish the documented travels which are very popular. All of a sudden, stop receiving transcripts from the author and rumors start circulating that he's dead. The protagonist has a friend called Rachel and another whose name I forgot but was a man. Let's call the man Tom. Tom is about to get married but along the plot of the book gets interested in Rachel. Rachel leads him on so far as for him to break his engagement. However Rachel soon leaves him for another guy later in the book. Rachel also played the protagonists boss. The author of the travel journals turns out to be a fraud who was stealing them from his old grandfather, If Im not wrong, the fake author goes out to sea and drowns. I hope it's descriptive enough.

Dacades ago, possibly 1980s i read a sci fi story (novel, short, i don't recall) in which the hero and heroine live on separate worlds. One element of the story is that they like others of their time "view" each other using 3d electronic devices that enable to them to have virtual contact over great distances. Face to face actual personal contact is called "seeing" and is discouraged socially and even feared personally. Part of the story is how hero and heroine overcome this issue. Can anyone Help?

Read a grapgic novel in 2013. It was a crime mystery i consider to be gritty. Followed a detective / P.I who eventually *spoiler* gets his finger cut off. I think it was sent in a box somewhere?? It ends with him lying on his bed with a scotch (possibly) glass in his hand, he may have killed himself to but im not sure. He had a thin mustache that looked a little french. There was also an important female character that came up frequently, she may have been a secretary or partner. The illustrations were in colour but had a dark scheme consisting of greys blacks browns and navy blues mainly. It rained a lot and was mentioned by a few characters too.

Okay so my mom has been looking for this book for over 15 years. She read this book in 1994 when she was around 15 years old. It follows the life of a girl who grows up in either a farm or a ranch (shes pretty sure the girl grow up there). The girl gets married and has kids. My mom specifically remembers this girls husband doing somthing really romantic by lining up candles. The husband dies in the story, though my mom cant remember how. I believe it was three short stories in one book and the stories were messed up. One story I remember was about two boys who interact with a girl that's just moved in to town and she makes them play a game called who dares win, a game where the participants must face their fears. Though in the end, the two boys die, one falls from a great height and the other is buried alive. Another story was about a girl who kills a cat with her friends, she eventually goes to apologise to the owner of the cat but when she leaves, turns into a cat, not long after this transformation, she is then killed by her friends. It's been forever since I read this book, i was a child when I read it so the details are a little fuzzy.

I've been looking for this book for years (even searched through collections of material at my mother and grandmothers house, as I am sure that is where I originally found the book to read). I've tried google and many variations of what I recall and to no avail. Maybe you can help or someone else reading my plea. The book is a romance historical fiction, time period medieval. What I remember about the book is that the lead character runs away from home after hearing her father is arranging a marriage for her to some old ugly guy. Making her escape things happen and she ends up covered in mud and finds herself at a castle with a widowed father and his son, she convinces him to hire her to be his son's governess. Eventually, they fall in love and his "clan" convince him to marry her so the king doesn't set him up with anyone. We find out later that she is actually the king's illegitimate daughter and they were betrothed to begin with. I thought that woman was named Phillippa, but all that search ever garnered was Phillippa Gregory books... The Man's name, I want to say, is Michael. Any help would be appreciated, for my sanity. :)

There was a chapter book my teacher read to the class when I was in grade school. My kids would love it but I don’t remember the title. I remember the book was set back around 1910. There were two or three little kids a girl and boy or two boys and a girl. They went walking down the sidewalk from their house and walked into some sort of fog and came out into another world. This world was perfect, everyday was beautiful, kids could eat anything they wanted, time was at a standstill maybe? Anyway the main thing I remember is the kids wanted to eventually leave and a house wouldn’t let them leave for some reason. I remember the attic in his house was alive and had a big evil face in it and the kids had to battle the face in the attic to get back to their home. I want to say that time slowed down when they were in this world that seemed so perfect. Would love to get this book to share with my kids if anyone could help me remember it! Thanks!

I read (and still read) a ton of scary stories when I was younger and, of course, never kept up with what I was reading. I've been searching for this story for years with no luck... I can remember a lot about the story but no combination of keywords seems to yield the correct answer. She's staring out her window at an old, scary (hanging?) tree across the street. I forget how the tree plays into things but it ends with the old lady apparently being some kind of cursed dog-creature and she and her friends corner the girl on her bed. She has a tooth in her hand but doesn't realize that she's squeezed it so hard that it has broken the skin, which turns her into one of the cursed creatures just as her parents get home.

I read this book back like 10 years ago. And I hate that I can’t remember the name. But The girl was pregnant. They went to their schools football game where I believe her child’s dad was one of the football players and her water happened to break on their way home from the game. She ended up brain dead and he was left to raise their baby girl on his own but her parents tried to adopt the baby from him.

The main character is a girl named parker but her alias is elizabeth i think. She likes to take pictures of sunrise and sunsets. Anyway...she met two guys in a cafe when she was in college and they all became friends. The guy who saw her first backed off because his buddy was in love with her. They got engaged and years later the guys went in the army and only one came back. The guy who was not her fiance came back and tried to find him. It comes out that the girl is also in the army but as a black opps. So him and parker fly to spain or somewhere to find her fiancee but end up falling in love. There is also a boat explosion and pool sex in this book if that helps to narrow it down.

Please help! Ive been trying to find this book for over 10 years now. I remember parts of the storyline its about a girl and her parents the dad is abusive and they move from one end of town to the other the family car was a chevette or chevelle. The girl specifically says she likes the colder weather of fall and winter because she can hide in her sweaters. In the new house the girl encounters a cat that leads her to the basement where she finds a loose brick in the wall under the staircase that has some kind of spellbook in it.. I remember reading a book as a young teen (1990's) about a family who immigrated to toronto canada. I think it was set in the 1950's. I have tried searching google but it keeps coming up dry. The main part I can remember is that the father gets a new fur coat from the family, after saving up for almost a year. He goes for a walk in the new coat and when he comes back he was sprayed by a skunk. He did not know what it was and thought it was a cat that sprayed him. They were able to save the coat by picking the skunk spray off after it had dried. That is about all I remember. Thank you for your time.

I read this book as a child but suspect it was written somewhere between 1980-2005... It starts with an injured knight who ends up having amnesia. The story follows a young boy who is treated like a slave by his 'Grandfather', has a three legged dog and runs away with the knight. The boy only has as lyre/hard that has a silver ring hidden in the top of it. This is somehow significant to the story... They end up having a few adventures and have to disguise themselves to escape from the 'Grandfather' and his thieves. Turns out the boy is the orphan of a disowned prince and his wife who died in a plague years previously. The knight has received a lot of help and then ends up sneaking into the city by climbing up this crazy cliff with the boy on his back. This cliff has had like 2 people climb it... as they climb up, there is an archer friend who is being ordered to fire at them but is purposefully missing them because he wants them to get to the top. As they reach the top, the knight is surprised that the boy hasn't figured out that he is the lost boy king everyone is searching for. No language, no sex etc. in the story and it's really child friendly. Any insight appreciated - google has offered me nothing! Thanks!

So when I was younger I read a book about a dog. Said dog ends up being sold repeatedly and eventually ends up in alaska or the yukon as a fighter. I remember vividly reading about an older, mean, dog owner who owned a large red dog that won the fights until the previously mentioned dog arrived. The red dog's owner dies and the red dog lays down to die with his owner after loosing a fight. The timeframe is similar to "Call of the Wild" and "White Fang". I thought I remembered the sold dog to be called Buck, but I could be wrong. Pretty sure it's not either of the above mentioned novels.

Hi everyone, great to be here! I've got a bit of a puzzle. I lost most of my library in 2013. I've been able to replace some of it, but there was one book I really enjoyed that is eluding me. I can't remember the title, but it was a debut novel by a Welsh writer, I believe his first name was John and it was about a writer who goes back to his home village to write a book about missing children snatched away at the edge of the woods when he was the only child who escaped. He becomes haunted by the murders and teams with his sister to solve a new series of missing children. Wish I had more to go on. I do remember the hardcover edition I had had a glow in the dark cover. Thanks to anyone who recalls this book or author and can help me track it down!

I have had no luck finding this book. It was in the section for teens. I even searched the public library's records and could not find it in their listings either. So, I do not think they still have this book. It was about a young girl who is a witch. But she just recently came back to life. The story started out with explaining that she and her younger brother were hidden away by their mother who was seen as a healer or witch in her time and had been accused of sleeping with demons or monsters. She was captured and killed because of this belief. While the girl and boy hid in fear in a large tree stump where they eventually died and the girls skeleton regrows skin that is now stained green. And her brother somehow ends up in an alternate world as the prince of these crow people. Because he was in fact the product of a relationship between their mother and a king of crows. The rest of the story is about the girl becoming accustomed to life after being dead for many years and starting her own practice of natural healing. if anyone knows the name of this book that would be great.

I am looking for a book I never finished when I was in junior high. The book had to be published before 1992. The cover was yellow. Hardback, but no dust jacket and the cover art was printed on the hardback front cover. The title was one word. I believe it was a strange word, because I remember not knowing how to pronounce it. It was shelved close to The authors Martin and Montgomery. There was a young man on a journey across a desert. I remember black robes, possibly monks even. Something flying, shiny, in the air, etc The young man his ina desert cave one evening. The writing is well done and it made the story easy to picture. It was not an overly long book. Over 200 pages and under 500. I’ve had Dune suggested to me and I am looking into that one, but so far it doesn’t jog my memory.

The book was like a short horror story collection. One of the stories in the book was based on a carnival that had come to town and the story also focused on two teenage boys who were apparently rude to everyone. They somehow managed to sneak behind stage to a performance but they were caught and fed some weird cotton candy which made them become balloon out to gargantuan size and the people in the audience pointed and laughed at them. I read a book in the 80s that I recall liking very much. Only problem is I can’t remember much more than a few details. Basically it was a war time (can’t remember which war!) thriller where the main characters were hiding out in hotels, going from one to the other in an effort to avoid being caught. They also went into an underground/subway system where they discovered pokes of dead bodies that had behind husks and had to step through them and hide in them. Okay. The book starts off with a guy standing outside waiting for his friend. They decided to go into a known drug apt. They break in through the bathroom window. They're surprised to find someone in the house. One friend is shot I think. The other friend goes to another man who was a big time dope dealer for help. The dope dealer gets in touch with a female and agrees to pay her $1200 to say that the guy was with her. I don't remember her name but her she lived with her mom but her mom passed and she used the money she was paid to bury her. She's either a waitress or a Stripper. At the end of the book she asked the guy to buy her a car and on the day she was supposed to testify in court she packed the car and her baby and left town. There's a sequel it starts out with her receiving a letter from the guy in jail saying he knows where she is and who she is (she changed her name) please help me. Amnesia, prosthetic leg

Unfortunately the only information I have about this book comes from overhearing someone describing it to another person, so I really only have two plot details: 1) It is about someone who wakes up in a hospital with amnesia. 2) At some point this person cuts off a conductor's (?) leg, and it turns out to be prosthetic. This isn't very much to work with, but at least the second detail is rather specific. The book was described as complex and hard to decipher, and it may be by a Japanese author (but I am not sure).

Hi, I read this book way back in 8th grade and I remember it was kind of dark. It was about a girl who I think had a sort of shadow magic that could create illusions and I remember that she met up with a group after running away from home. They also had magic abilities and I think the main guy who helped her had fire magic. I wish I could remember more than that but it was a long time ago now. P.s. I think around the beginning she accidentally got her father killed when an illusion scared some horses into trampling him.

It's a book that was published in the early 2000's. It's either a historical or regency romance book. It has a dark cover, mostly black, title in red letters, across the top right cover is like a moon and clouds like a night sky. The word "dark" is in the title. I'm sorry I can't remember the whole title OR the author. It was a female author. It was a book sold from the Dollar General (small retail stores). It's about a young woman who marries a Lord or Duke, somebody of title. The 1st chapter of the book is the man w his mistress lover, he's basically telling her goodbye bc he's getting married. He doesn't care much for his wife in the beginning. He has a bit of a "dark side" in his sexual desires (far as I remember it's more like just being alittle rough, nothing sinister) He gets very excited by her innocence and passion and wants to take her somewhere very private for much time alone with her. They travel by a carriage to there honeymoon destination which is a piece of property he owns that he's been paying good money to be kept up but no one has been taking care of it at all! The do stay there, but the roof is broken and leaking and the whole place (quite large, probably a castle of sorts) is really run down and he's very angry about it all! I can not remember the remainder of the story of the secret that gets uncovered, other than I THINK, he does find out that the man he's been sending money to to keep the place up, has been pocketing the money and is very dishonest bc of something that happened along time ago and the man feels he's due the money, or something like that.... Please help me with any suggestions at all. I've searched thru many different search engines or popular book websites for searching for books. Thank you!

Help name that book. (Contemporary romance) You know that uncomfortable feeling you get when it’s at the back of your mind but you can’t seem to grasp it. Yeah, I have that right now. I looked through my entire kindle (1300+ books) and can’t find it. All I remember is these two started dating I think? And she sees him at the markets talking to another woman, she gets jealous. Says hi to him and it turns out the woman was his nanny for his deaf son. And he’s a baseball coach. His deaf son plays as well. One day he lets her babysit his son and takes him to the zoo. She loses him, panicked because he’s deaf and can’t hear her calling him. The guy then breaks things off with her because he can’t trust her with his son. One day the son comes to her house by himself. The dad comes and realised that she practiced sign language in order to talk to his son. That’s all I can remember . The book is a romance book The cover I think is mostly green that's got the back of a guy on the lower left hand side and then you see a castle off in the distance, either rolling hills or on the edge of a cliff with water. It is about a dishonoured or black sheep that ran off to either be a ship's captain or a pirate I think he lost an eye and he had to come back to be the Lord of The Manor or Duke or something along that like a high-born. I remember the book being really good but I can't remember any of the rest of the story line other than he came back to basically reclaim his Birthright because I think his brother or brothers both died so he's the last remaining heir. But the book was really good. I gave it to one of my brother's friends and she never returned it so now I'm trying to figure out what the book was.

Right, I read this book whilst in secondary school around 2009. I can only assume it was written a year or two before because the author, a man, came to the school and did a Q&A. The book what about a teenage boy with a girlfriend that was befriended by a group of lads that were all in to their football. After the first football game they all attended it was revealed they were a youth football hooligan gang and the main character, the new member, loved every minute of it. Towards the end of the book they go to an away match and the fight is an ambush. He is chased down and stabbed by the opposing firm and when waking up in the hospital he promises to stop it all to his girlfriend but In the last few lines say something along the lines of ‘I won’t give this up, I love it too much’ It’s a teen book, around 150-200 pages

In college I bought (then lost) this graphic novel from the nineties that involved a cynical writer, her electrician sister who went about as the the alien queen from jupiter (or some such thing) and being chased by an evil rich guy. also lots of ex-boyfriends. The dialogue was very sharp, and it had these really elegant but loose black and white drawings I think the author's name was Kyle so and so. Anyone know what the hell I'm talking about?

probably something by Kyle Starks, but you could be mixing it together with elements from 'Love and Rockets' around the same time, by Jaime Hernandez. That had Maggie the Mechanic, her friends Hopie and Izzy, Penny Century and her Aunt the ex wrestler Rena. Also Super car Driver Rand Race.There is a crazy rich guy HR Costigan pursuing Penny. so it goes a bit like this: this girl and her sister are just hanging outside and then they argue. once they argue the sister leaves into the woods and the little one goes inside and when she comes outside they can't find the sister. turns out she was choked or raped but she basically died and so later on, the main girl goes to live with her aunt as a vacation and her, along with the cousin, and the boyfriend go around trying to find who killed the sister. turns out the killer has been playing with them this whole time

I read a book about a girl who lived in a town where it was cold and always snowed under. She meets a really mysterious man and wants to find out more about him, I particularly remember one night she thinks she see's his face in her window but it's an illusion in the snow gathering on the window. He comes and goes and police are after him for sexual assault i think, and I remember towards the end he reveals his naked body and that he has no genitalia meaning he was innocent of the sexual assault charges. I remember reading this book probably 30 years ago. I think it started with a couple who fall in love. Get married. He gets her a necklace and In later years she passes it on to a daughter. The daughter later becomes rebellious and decides to leave home for Europe. This is during world War 2. She falls in love with a nobleman or prince and I think his name is Rudy? They marry but a jealous sister in law sees her necklace and turned her into the Natzis as Jewish. She is sent to a camp where she finds out she is pregnant. She developes a relationship with a guard so that he will help her escape.

Because of the drugs, he starts getting jealous and treats the girl badly. At one point he even grabs her and that’s when he realizes he can’t be with her. He decides to break up with her by saying he cheated (I think) and doesn’t love her. Because of him doing this, she doesn’t get to tell him some big news The books fasts forwards a few years. The girl is now a teacher. The guy is sober. He sees on the news that she was shot in her classroom And goes to the hospital to see her. He does his best to win her back. I read an interesting book and returned it to the library, and I forgot the title. There was this boy (forgot his name) and he had hypnotizing powers. He didn't know about it until a secret company informed him about it. Mr. Mako was a well-known person who ran the company and he invited the boy to learn about his powers. There were many other people who had powers like that too. Another guy with powers formed a group of people with powers. They were learning not to use their powers for bad. The guy warned the boy that Mr. Mako was evil, and he was right. Mr. Mako was hypnotizing almost everyone to support him and vote this guy running for president. Mr. Mako threatens to kill the boy's parents so the boy helps him. It ends with the boy sabotaging Mr. Mako and moving away.

There’s a book I vaguely remember reading when I was in elementary/middle school and is considered a young adult or young teen book. I don’t remember much about it other then it was about these 2 girls who were such close friends. They’re styles however were complete opposites. I remember the cover was of their feet in the grass to the side and opposite of each other. And one girl was wearing combat boots. Of the 2 girls, the one in the combat boots was the main character. This is a vampire novel series where the vampires turn psychically gifted humans into vampires. These vampires also have harems (for want of a better word) of psychically gifted humans who work for them. Also, there are more powerful vampires who police the other ones. These more powerful vampires are stronger and have multiple rows of teeth. These stronger vampires can also turn into regular vampires but if need be can change into the stronger more powerful vampires too.

Hi about 5 yrs ago I read a book or book series about a vampire who can make portals, he changed a statue into a living bronze horse that eats metals and can breath fire, I think he's a king or a ruler of some sort, his kingdom lives in a mountain where he uses his ability to alter it by moving walls creating new rooms as well as smothing out roads to make travel more accessible, he dose this with his mind. It's set back in a time where there's no technology. However some of the altanate dimensions do have technology. I was the proto-typical, first generation nerd of the 1980s, devouring all Sci-Fi and Fantasy literature like a plague of locusts. Using every penny of my allowance, I bought whole series at a time. I bought this one series in the late 1980s or early 1990s, I think. The series was many, many books long -- more than ten novels. It starts with a turn-of-the-20th-Century expedition in Egypt/Africa searching for the "Source of the Nile." The main protagonist is the younger brother (British soldier?) of a previously disappeared explorer. He is seeking to find his older brother. There is an older Indian guide too. After some mishaps, the expedition enters a (subterranean?) maze/labyrinth dimension with all manner of tests, challenges, allies and hostiles. The protagonist eventually allies with a cyber-man, a young woman (from the future) with a device called a Balbec A9 that uses her life energy to create effects, a female spider alien and the Indian guide who was swallowed by a monster that ate his years and extruded him much younger. The series was them adventuring (through a dozen books) to the source of the maze/labyrinth, each for their own reason. Can anyone remember this series, the author . . . . anything? I read this picture book as a child, so it must be published pre- 1990. It's set in an ocean and there are only two islands, on one island all the people are greedy and they mine their island until it starts sinking. The other island, everyone is eco-concious and they just grow their own food and be self sufficient. The "green" islanders end up helping and saving the people from the "greedy" island when their island sinks. Please help me find this book! :)

Sometimes tutors change, and her father is frustrated by how she is unable to mimic her mother. In the end, she does enjoy it a bit, though her relationship with her violin is complicated. And I'm fuzzy about this, but there might have been a part where her violin is thrown out of the window or damaged somewhat?

It's about an old man who drinks at a bar regularly whose life is disrupted by a little girl, I think she called herself "Marky". She would say "Marky dance" and dance in the bar. Hi all! So I'm looking for a book that I read only a couple of years ago at most. From what I remember it's a YA dystopian / post apocalyptic book about a teenage girl living alone in NYC after her mother dies. I believe at some point she is saved by a young man while on the run from a violent gang of boys. She does end up getting captured by this gang and is taken back to their hideout where the leader claims her as his. The young man ends up saving her as well as another girl from this vicious gang. Unfortunately the only other thing I do remember is that when the world was ending a NYC zoo keeper released the animals resulting in central park becoming polar bear territory. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

This is a children’s book series. This boy with one grey eye and the other I think blue, lives with his grandmother and on his birthday was given a scroll. He then goes to live his aunt and uncle and their two kids. The aunt cooks with weird things but the kids all eat it. Like pickle yogurt or something like that. Anyways, he becomes a bookkeeper and there’s always something scary underfoot. He finds out he can hear books speaking. It’s a series and I’ve read 2 of them. Have a fine so I can’t get it till it’s gone. PLEASE tel me someone knows!!

So there's this girl and she is currently a spirit and can invade people's minds if she tries really hard and everyone and herself thinks she just up and umped off the roof of a school building while they were doing those safety egg test drops thingies and later she learns that the other spirit she has made friends with actually pissed her body and made her jump. It's because she was jealous since the main character had been in a relationship with the ex of the spirit who beyrays mc, who actually was accidentally killed by the boyfriend but the guy covers it up and hides all his relationships. There was this other guy spirit who you don't really know much about until you find out the new teacher was his old crush and he was gay for him hut then he died. All of the spirits killed on school grounds are locked onto that area. At the end of they found this bright light or sm in this mural and all walked into it. The cover of the book had a wispy blue butterfly on it.

Ok so I read this book FOREVER ago and I can’t think of what it is. There’s this kid who inadvertently gets sent to another dimension. He ends up having to join the military on that world. There’s all types of ranking officials and each rank means something. Back on “Earth” (I think) there are these two kids who are at a hospital fighting these people who have gotten this fungus, virus, infection, etc. that makes them attack people. For the life of me I can’t remember much else. I know it’s not the Pendragon series; I read those too but I believe this is different. I could also be crazy and this could be two separate stories.

I have search for a long time with my little bit of information on the book and I would be both really happy and very impressed of someone knew the book. It was more for kids/teens and the book was about 2 kids (a boy and a girl) who were friends who found a mgaic book (in a library I think) and they learn to do magic together and as they did they would sneak out of there house on vacations away fro.t heir family to go help a whale (it may have been a pod of whales) and I remember really clearly the writer describing how after a short time the 2 children had become soar because as they walked across the water (using magic) they were working muscles that they usually did not use to stay balanced. I also believe at one point they transformed into whales themselves. I dont remember names or anything but I'm really hoping someone knows what I'm talking about

This is a book about a girl who helps her family make hot chocolate in the cafe that they own. I think their house is across from a graveyard. Also, the girl has a pair of drumsticks, but no drums because her family can't afford them. There is a secret ingredient in the chocolate; stardust. Looking for a book I read in elementary school. It was a larger book (page wise) and the cover had a man sitting in an arm chair but his head was that of a cat. I think it was about different dreams the storyteller has. I remember distinctly a part about him looking at his cat wondering what it would be like to switch places with it. And then feeling something which turns out to be a zipper on the cat’s chest. He unzips the cat’s fur and a glowing pink orb comes out (which I think is supposed to be the cat’s soul.) Please help!!
