Library books lined up on a shelfCheck out selected results from NYPL Title Quest 2019, held August 2, 2019, as well as Title Quest 2018.

This is an update of a previous post by Sharon Rickson.

It can be tough to remember the title and author of a book you read a long time ago—even if it was a book that was really important to you. Fiction is cataloged by author and title, not by subject or plot line, which makes identifying books by just their storyline difficult.

Readers often ask librarians for help finding these kinds of books. And we can’t figure out the mystery every single time, but we do have a few tricks to help find the answer.

First, pin down everything you can remember about the book, plot, character names, time period in which the book may have been published, genre, etc. All these details are clues in identifying the title and author of the book.

Online resources can help with your search for a half-remembered book, even if all you have is a basic plot line. Searching yourself is a good place to start; then, you can post to a listserv or discussion forum, where someone might recognize it. Or, last but not least, leave a comment on this post!

Before You Start

Try Google! Type in everything you can remember about the book — as in, “picture book rabbi animals advice yiddish” — and scroll through the results. (That’s a real-life example of a book a patron was asking for: It Could Always Be Worse by Margot Zemach.)

You can also try googling one key detail you remember from a book. One of our librarians solved a book mystery by searching “USS You-Know-Who” — the name of a boat in the story that the patron happened to remember. (Another real-life example: She Flew No Flags by Joan Manley.)

More Suggestions

  • If you can remember just one word, use the search function on Goodreads or Library Thing to find long lists of titles with a particular word.

  • Goodreads’ browse-able lists of titles that readers have shelved in unique categories, such as authors’ professions or decades of publication, is also be helpful.

How to Move On

Sometimes, it's just not going to happen, and you can't find that elusive book you've been searching for. It's okay! Great news: The world is full of great books! Here are a few ways to find more...

Feel free to leave a comment and tell us about a book you’re trying to remember! Our library staff members will pop in and check it periodically, and readers of this post are welcome to make guesses and suggestions.

I have no idea what the name is.

I know this is a long shot but I had this book when I was a kid. It was a very old short horror story book with 15+ stories in it with multiple different authors. I never had the cover for it but the hard cover underneath of the book was solid red with gold lettering on the side. I am desperate to find my book again after over a decade of it being missing. Thank you anyone who can help me.

we think this might be...

... one of the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark series by Alvin Schwartz!

I can picture what the book

I can picture what the book looked like but I have no idea the name of it. I know in the title one of the words were “Beasts” but that doesn’t help me find out the full name of the book. The book was about a family of three who always moved away when the cold came because the father was cursed and would turn into a beast. His father had been cursed by a witch and so would his son and his family. The daughter of the family is left behind with the grandmother (Her father’s mom) and she becomes a beast.

private eye novel in stories

Sometime between 1977 and 1987 I read a novel consisting of (six?) stories each by a different author. The idea was that a private eye (who owned a bar?) was hired to find six paintings that had been sold to different cities. He hired a PI in each city. I thought the title was THE BLACK PEARL or THE BLACK ECHO or something like that, but can't find it. (It is not Connolly's BLACK ECO. Any thoughts?

Heeeeeelllllppp

I know this is going to seem really out there but I’ve gotta ask. Do you 90s baby’s remember a book about a girl who lives with her two aunts, she goes to a festival in town and falls in love with a handsome young man she meets there. They are quickly married and have a son. Shortly after her son is born she wakes up at her aunts house and is told that that was all just a dream by her aunts. She is treated with she is crazy. After three years She accepts that what happened was nothing more than a dream. She accepts a position as a nanny to the new kings children. She becomes close to the youngest of the kings (alleged)bastards. Although there is a rumor one of the children is legitimate the child’s identity is kept secret from everyone and the children are treated equally. (As the king is expected to marry a duchess soon and her children will be expected to sit on the throne) The future wife of the king is forced to spend time with the children but the king is not present because of matters of state and wedding prep. The future wife treats the nanny and the children poorly and when the future wife hits the youngest son of the king the nanny flat out smacks her. This causes a huge commotion that has the king entering the children’s wing. As she is explaining that the future wife hit the small child, both she and the king recognize one another. He was the man she married and had a son with four years ago. He embraces her and tells her they told him she died in child birth giving him a son. They wed after he sends the duchess packing.

Two Forgotten Children's Books

1. A man bought something magical in a foreign land and received wishes. With the wishes came misfortune. The only way to get rid of the magical item was to sell it for a price less than that which he paid. In the end, he bought the item back, knowing he could not sell it again. 2. Two boys have a bowl which produces any kind of food/drink they can wish for. My fifth grade teacher read us (part) of these books. Now I have elementary school children and would like for them to be able to read them. Thank you for your help.

Book read on the radio in 1970’s

In the mid 1970’s I heard a book serailised on the radio. It was about medieval England with a sorceress queen or noblewoman plotting for herself and her family. I did track it down and managed to get a hard copy from the local library but I cannot remember the title or the author. It was extremely dark but also very enthralling and I would love to read it again. It may have been one in a series about the same family.

The book is about a teenage

The book is about a teenage girl who’s best friend is in a coma. The girl reluctantly falls in love with the brother of her best friend. I can’t remeber any other details about the book other than the author was a woman.

Wattpad

Okay so i read this on Wattpad but the author had published the book in paperback as well and i had thought it was Rebecca Brown but i couldn't find it anywhere. It's about this girl who has lost her mother and her father is an alcoholic and then she is suspended from school because she plagiarises this one essay. She goes to live with her uncle in this huge manor and lives in her mother's old room and finds these journals her mother had written. And there is something about the ouroboros in there too. And in the end she is leaving because her life is in danger when she sees her mother at the airport. There was a second book too but i have no idea about it. Any help would be mightily appreciated.

searching a book

YA fiction fantasy

I can't remember the title of the book. The book is a series as well. Plot: a young boy is tested against a girl, who is like a chieftans daughter. The test is to go into a valley where there is a special flower which only grow near a monster nest. They get the flower by helping each other. The boy gain the ability to use fire magic and then it sent to his school where he becomes really strong. They find out that the monsters in that valley are going to destroy the world, he and the girl play a big role in saving the world with an army. I believe the army leader is a wolf creature, who is crazy strong too. I also remember that the girl and boy are somehow linked together. Also I think the girl has a spirit animal. Well I hope that helps. I really would love to read it again because it was so interesting. Thank you

Trying to find this book. I think it had a supernatural element

So i remember it having like two sets of characters where one is a girl whose dad( i think it wasnt her real dad) raised her and gave her something to forget her memory sometimes when she saw things of the "other world" (werewolves? They were like animal like) i remember she was on a walk on a path or something and she got attacked and her dad made her forget and then he covered it up. The other character was in some trouble? I remember she had to talk to people in some sort of orgy place and then she went to an arena to fight and it was up to 3 points where you cant escape the magic circle thing and then the first point was a drop of blood. She had rings i think. I remember the cover having a red masquerade mask? Black background. It may have been published around 2000-2010. I read it in like 2013.

Don’t know the title of this Career book

It was an autobiography about a teen trying different jobs to see what he might enjoy doing as a career. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It was a plot to make her a puppet, because she was raised common. She has a best friend, and together they are working on who killed everyone. Something about poison paint.

Please help!

Please help me find this book. I read some adult books (I think it was a series, but honestly, it could be a stand-alone) years ago where a group of school-aged children were out in the desert accidentally when the government was testing something (I think it was a kind of chemical warfare). These are not young adult books, as the scenes about the exposure are just brief flashbacks. Well, these kids grow up, and now the government is killing them off. They send an assassin who was also exposed to this stuff to get rid of the rest of the exposed adults. The part I remember the most is that the assassin is also killing the children of these "tainted" adults, and in one scene, two of the adults are together and are about to be caught by this assassin, and although they know without a doubt that they would never turn in their own children, they can't say that about the other person's children, so they commit suicide. (That scene has them right after a car crash, and they hold hands as they blow up the car somehow.) Please help! It’s like an ear worm or brain itch that i’ll Never get rid of until I find out the title and reread it.

Hey, so probably not going to be able to get an answer but I'm hoping. When I was in Jr high I read a book aboit a man who travels to China for some reason and I believe buys a young girl from her family because he thinks that the foot binding is barbaric. I can't remember clearly what happens after this but I know that her name was iris or something similar and she at some point gets in trouble and ends up dying or killing herself. I just know I loved the book (even though it was super depressing) and I think some of the kids I'm tutoring will love it as well. I can't recommend it if I can't find the name though I hope you guys can help.

The Binding Chair by Kathryn Harrison

I believe this sounds like The Binding Chair by Kathryn Harrison, I read it many years ago but the male character is called Arthur; he's Australian and is a member of the Foot Emancipation Society. I hope this helps! :)

It’s historical fiction

Can’t remember the title but it’s a historical fiction novel. The man is Scottish and brings the girl back to Scotland. It was set probably in 17-1800’s. Hope this helps. And would have been written pre-2007

Female doctor - murder mystery - mafia conspiracy - police

So if anyone can help me with this, it'd be greatly appreciated. I read this book decades ago, but was so enthralled with the story and plot. I read it at my uncle's house during a school holiday in the country, and I don't remember if it even had a cover at that time (unlikely though, since it was found in my uncle's old belongings which had included books and magazines and tools). Even by that time the book's pages were already showing signs of aging with brownish colors, so I'd say the book was published sometime in the '80s. Naturally it's in English, and sadly I don't know the author's name.. As for the story, it dealt with a female doctor (psychiatrist I think, but not too sure) as the MC. One of her patients was murdered and hence began the thriller-mystery ride. She got multiple death threats from what revealed was the mafia, and when she asked for police help, one of the senior detectives/ officers didn't really believe her. This was because the circumstances surrounding the patient's murder was vague, and it was even implied that she remained one of the suspects. There was another, younger police detective who believed her outright. So there's the suspense-mystery-thriller element, and when there was a huge plot twist (along with its explanation), it was a major satisfaction. I think it was hinted that she and the older detective had some romantic feelings at the end. I won't tell any more detail because it would be a spoiler, a huge one at that, for you. Sorry for the long post. I think it's a really, really wonderful read.

Searching for a book...

I have spent an hour or so searching on Google for this book, to no avail. The closest I got was the Boxcar Children, which is about a family of four orphaned children who run away from their grandfather and live in a boxcar, and end up going back to live with him after the first book. But it's not right, as I don't think the family in my book went to live with their grandfather after the first book, and I remember them living in a deserted farmhouse or attic (not a boxcar). The images I have from the book are: 1. of the oldest girl "talking" to horses by breathing out of her nose into the horse's nose (which is how they talk to each other, claimed the author). 2. Of the children swearing allegiance by pricking the back of their hands with a hairbrush and then allowing their blood to mingle. Definitely written before 1980! Wish I could remember more. I do remember loving this book and don't know why I can't remember the title.

Finding a lost book post on nypl.org

Hi, I read your post about looking for a book where a girl "talked" to horses by breathing to them. It could be For Love of a Horse by Patricia Leitch. I read it over and over as a young girl and the main character, Jinny Manders, calmed a frightened and injured horse by breathing to her. I hope this helps! Trying to find a book

I read this series last summer and I can't remember the name. I do remember that it followed a girl who was part of a very important family, one day they find out that she has magic and she get's sent to a famous Abbey, at that school they try to suppress your magic. This is during the Napoleon revolution and set in England. There is a group of students led by a teacher that is learning magic anyway in the underground catacombs. The girl joins them and ends up accidentally opening a portal and travelling to a world war in the exact same spot. She runs into a family, whom I think where future relatives of someone she knows. This all happened in the first book but there was also more. Please help me find it because it's really good!

Did you find it?

I can't remember the name of this book and it's driving me crazy

I read this book a few years ago and now I'm trying to remember the name of it but all i can remember are some scarce details. It is a fictional book about this girl (I think she's in high school) and she finds this glowing(?) bead thing and I think she ends up swallowing it or something because she ends up with cat powers...(?) There is also a talking cat in the story. (I think the cat was black but don't hold me to that) That talking cat helps her to learn to control/use those powers. There are a few parts of the story that i remember clearly= the first part is when the cat gets her to scratch at a tree until her fingers r bleeding and she doesn't understand why He had her do that, only to find out that's how her claws are "activated"/created. The second part that I remember is when she's at school and there's this other girl that is bullying/saying mean things and she ends up slapping her. The slap leaves scratch marks and so that's basically how the main character finds out that she has retractable claws like a cat. If anyone has any idea at all of what the name of this book might be, it would be so very helpful!!

What your describing sounds like two different books. The talking cat and it teaching the pupil is called david eddings redemption althalus. The cat is actually a goddess. Need some time to figure the other book. Its written by David Eddings.

I think this might be "Law of the Wolf Tower" by Tanith Lee.

Please Help!!

I've been trying to find this one book I read years ago and can't remember the title or the author. It's an older book published back in the 80's or 90's I believe. It's fiction and the story was dated back in the 1800's. It was about a young girl who was traveling with her father, who ended up dying along the way and she contacted of very old friend of his so he went to go have her live with him. I remember he had married his sons fiancé, Bianca, who was actually pregnant by her sisters husband but his father didn't know. His son was bitter and hateful towards them. Then the night when he came to visit and met the young girl Bianca was found dead and they blamed the murder on him so he left. Then the war happened and his father died and he found out the young girl had married his father and he was angry because the plantation that was his mother's had been willed to the girls future children so he marries her himself to find that she was still a virgin while being married to his father. They travel along with Biancas sister and her husband to his mother's plantation and throughout the story someone tries to murder him and finds out Biancas sister was having an affair and her husband was trying to kill the son because he wanted to marry the girl to get the plantation. If anyone knows what this book please let me know! I'm going crazy trying to find it but have no luck so far!

Help me find this book

I can't remember much about the book. It might have been YA or NA paranormal. Basically all I can recall is the female protagonist falls in love with a guy from another and eventually his brother too but there is no fighting. She meets his brother while she is up in a tree and he's the only who can convince her to come down. Also the original brother ends up dying in a battle. Those are all the things I can recall from the book, i think the cover might have been green but I'm not sure. It drives me mad that I can't remember what the book is called.

Please help me find thus book

I am looking for a book that I read when I was younger. I remember it was about a girl who was forced out of her nice lifestyle and put on a ship to explore or look for treasure. It may have had adventure or treasure in the title. I remember the cover very well. It was cream or light brown. It had the girls face on it looking out to the distance. It had a ship in the background and I think it also had a picture of a compass on the cover too. If you happen to know what book I am talking about I would be very greatfil. Thank you.

Book about a girl called Sally

Hi, looking for a book I read in kindergarten (40 years ago) about a girl I recall was called Sally (I guess), with a dark bob cut and a lot of pink colour around. It was a picture book I suppose. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

This book?

Hi, another one. So, there is a foreign doctor (Indonesian perhaps) called Sonarjo 'Sonny' in a US town and he is generally shunned, but a local girl falls in love with him. Then there is a cyclone/tornado and he single handedly manages the injuries of a lot of people while risking his life, and wins the town's respect.. Was a rather thin book written in young adult fiction style. Any clues anyone? Thanks!

His and Her Circumstances

His and Her Circumstances maybe?

Nope

That manga is about a girl who pretends to be perfect and gets found out by a boy with black hair. He says he will keep her secret if she does errands for him. At one point, she breaks down crying and he tells her that he didn't mean to hurt her. Then he reveals that he was in love with her and was using her secret as an excuse. They weren't married though. I think I know what manga it is, but I need to ask someone about the name again.

or it could be a short story from "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" because I kind of remember reading that sort of thing too. Im not sure that that book is necessarily for children but I read it in elementary school and I don't recall that it was that scary.

Scary Story

I think the title may be The Scariest Stories You’ve Ever Heard Vol. I, II, III. These were always my fave at our school book fair. My favorite story was about a teenage girl living with her single mother and is invited to prom or a dance. The mother finds a dress for the daughter at a consignment or thrift shop and the daughter wears it to the dance. It is noted that the dress smells sickly sweet but is attributed to perfume or something along those lines. Mom goes to wake daughter day after the dance and she is deceased wearing the gown in bed. Death is a result of the inhalation and exposure to toxic gases produced by embalming fluid. The dress had been donated to the store by a funeral home. This story blew my 4th grade mind. Hope this helps!

I read it in 7th grade. The details are hazy, but what you said fits the description of the book as I remember it.

Book I forgot

I can’t remember much but the book was about a girl who was sent of to live on a mansion on an island because her mother died or something. At first she liked enclosed places. I remember one part where she hid from some sort of nanny by hiding under a rock and staying there the whole day. She gets bored and starts exploring around the mansion and finds a sick boy behind a room. They kind of become friends. I think it was kind of a one sided friendship at first since the boy didn’t interact with anyone. It believe it ends with the girl taking the boy out of the house and the girl learns to open up with people. Also I think the wife of the fathers boy died because of a spider.

Book Title

So this book is about a girl, maybe called Olivia. She gets a letter from a mysterious but well known school. She’s reluctant to go there but I guess she decides to go for her mother or either her mother makes her go. While she’s at the school, I think there’s this society where thirteen or something girls end up dead and Olivia has to save herself and figure out the mystery, while saving herself and figuring out the school’s role in this.

13 frightened girls

The movie was done a bit differently. Each girl is from a diplomatic family and one of them becomes a spy to find out why people are getting kidnaped and killed. At first its a game till she discovers her bestbfriends father is part of an old oriental mob responsible for the kidnappings and murders.

Lost book

I have been looking for a book about a blonde girl that was half fairy and due to the threatenings of her uncle she have to kill the prince but when she see him she falls in love with him when she looked at him then she have this trouble and get drunk in the pubs of the town XD (cheesy and sad but I want to finish that book URGENTLY! HELP!)

CW Lewis Narnia series

The book you described is incorrectly listed now a days as book#1 of the Naria series but is actually book#6. The publisher changed the order because many people were getting confused as it was a side story that described the creation of Narnia. Anyway, the boys mother is very sick and dying and is part fairy. The boys uncle got his hands on her mothers fairy dust and makes rings that bring the wearer to a world of lakes that each one is a portal to a different world. The children not being careful bring an evil woman from a world where all life is dead because this woman used the deplorable that killed all life and accidentally bring her to England where a big fight happens in a pup. Fearful the evil woman might kill all life in this world the children trick her back to the world of portal lakes and accidentally bring her to a world that the creater Aslan is just creating with talking animals which turns out to be Narnia. The evil woman steals forbidden fruit and it is soon discovered that she will one day be the ice witch. I read this series when I was a child and have read it to my children as well. The stories are actually related to the bible.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice?

I don;t remember anything about fairies but the rings and ponds I do recall. Polly and Diggory were the children I think. The boy got the magic apple for his mother and planted the seeds which grew into a tree which when it fell in a storm he used to make the magic wardrobe in the next book. The cabbie and his wife from the London fight became the first king and queen of Narnia. Gosh, I remember saving up my 'Owl Book Club' stickers to buy this series at school.

Xanth series by piers Anthony

For me to miss this, would be horrible since im a fan. As you probably guessed, my name is from the series. The author still writes books and its one of the longest written series as well. Its called Xanth and the world of magic parallels Florida. The rules of magic are if you move to Xanth you wont have any magic but any of your children there will be born there with a magical tallent. Sometimes someone has a tallent they cant discover or need a question answered and of you make it through the pun filled world of obstacle courses to Magician Humphreys Castle you can ask him a question and almost always get a riddle answer for one years service. The book you described is the source of magic followed by a world with no magic if im correct. Book one stars a character named biff or stile? Been a long time but one of those characters belong to Xanth the other to another series he wrote called the land of Phase. Piers Anthony is the author. If you like the xanth series a lot and it was actually the first book I picked up that got me interested in reading where I read the entire series at the time it was 16 books in under 2 weeks. You like this series, try Deathgate by margret weiss and tracy hickmann. Its a 7 book series which has an Easter egg character from their dragon lance series. Another similar and awsome series from David and LEIGH eddings is called the Belgariad Series. Sort of like Harry Potter but instead a child who has no idea hes a king with godlike powers must slay an evil god who was disformed by an orb that burned him for attempting to use it to sundet the world. One other series is the road to underfall where a fallen king must help the child of light to end the demon of darkness that the first king ever accidentally released. Acornia the unicorn girl who with her powers must free a world of enslaved children. The phase series is about a world of magic and a world of science which is discovered to once have been one world but split due to corporate greed. Similar laws like xanth where as to have magic you must be born on either world and only way to cross is if your mirror self is dead. Hope all this helps. Oh, one other series from Piers Anthony is the Mode series which for a short time crosses over into Xanth.

XANTH

Nice to read about other people having enjoyed Piers Anthony's books as well! Xanth was truly magical world, with a lot of humor and puns. I preferred the first 10 or so books. The Blue Adept series and Incarnations of Immortality were good as well.

More Xanth informarion

I been out of the loop so as of right now Xanth series is over 22 books. Book 1 a spell for chameleon, book 2 the source of magic, and book 3 Castle Roogna. Sorry if I left this out in my first reply. What you read was book 2. If your looking to collect the series, here is a link that shows them all. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xanth

I’m looking for a book, I

I’m looking for a book, I dont remember vital details but it was about this girl that just graduated highschool i believe and went to go celebrate with her boyfriend that she’s dated for a long time and her best friend. they partied and all that jazz and when they crashed for the night, the main characer woke up from her sleep and realized she was in the bed alone and her boyfriend and best friend were no where to be found. then she checks in the bathroom and sees that her boyfriend is cheating on her with her best friend and is heartbroken. she runs away and takes her boyfriend car with her. shes really upset because she has no close family or relatives to live with. she drives his car to a beach (i think?) and she was so drowned in her thoughts and the image of them together that she hits someone on a bike with the car (i think she killed him). a police officer comes around at some point and she tells him what happened and instead of arresting her and taking her to jail, he takes her in once he realizes she has no one. after that, she dates the officer and ends up getting pregnant for him later on in the book. the officer isnt what he seems too, BUT I JUST CANT FIGURE OUT ANY OF THE CHARACTERS NAMES OR THE NAME OF THE BOOK! its been YEARS since ive read it and i never even got to finish it, PLEASE HELP!!

help me find this book - always watching, always waiting

i'm searching for a children's horror story called "always watching, always waiting." i don't know the author but the cover illustration was like the night sky - it was purple and there was a white full moon. the title was in a yellow font, and i think there may also have been a black tree and a window/a little girl looking out of the window? it had a lot of illustrations in black ink (no colour) and was quite short - about as long as a horrid henry book or a famous five book. i cannot find any trace of it online but i know it exists bc i read it about ten years ago in primary school! here's a synopsis/key points i remember. -a girl is sent to stay or live with her grandmother during the summer holiday. she lives in a massive manor house. -there's a boy who lives nearby and rides his bike around a lot. they become friends and i remember him doing some kind of "trick"over a gravestone, and the two of them cycling through a graveyard with the girl on the back of the bike.(this was illustrated.) -the girl finds out her grandma had a sister (maybe a twin?) who died at the house as a child - she fell out of the window. a doll was found that looked exactly like her and no one knew where it had come from. the girl was buried with the doll. -the main girl makes her way up to the attic one day and she sees a woman all in black crying over a sewing table. she leaves, but when she returns on a later date there's a little girl with blonde hair and wearing a dress, who brings her over to the table to see what the woman is making - it's a doll who looks just like her. the woman has also made the doll a pair of matching jeans. she leaves without playing. (these parts are illustrated.). -eventually the little girl dies by falling out of the window. the lookalike doll is found and she is buried with it (i think in the garden, definitely next to her grandmas sister but maybe in the graveyard..not sure) -the boy she made friends with moved away after her death but he always came back to visit her grandmother for tea. there's an illustration of them both drinking tea in high backed arm chairs next to a set of french windows. someone else must have read this!

I vaguely remember the cover picture it was of this odd looking gray figure. It was a book I read in middle school as a book assignment and I started really liking the book. It was a dystopian book about a kid who lives in a world without books or written words. Now this part may be a bit hazy and incorrect but it's been years since I've read the book-- later in the book it is revealed that the main character himself is a page or book. I'm not sure if that part is correct but I'm pretty sure the book is about a protagonist is a dystopia with no books or written word. I don't have much to go on I'm afraid. I read the book in the early 1980's so the book would have been 70's-80's. It was for kids aged approx 9-12 (?) It was set is the U.S. or Canada and it was about two sisters pre-teen and early teen - they didn't get along. One summer, they get together with some other kids (could be neighbourhood kids, visiting guests - not sure) and go on an adventure - perhaps camping. The main girl (I cannot remember her name or any names) breaks her arm I believe. Not many details to go on....sorry!

Does anybody know the name of this book?

In the late 90's or early 2000's I read a book at my school fair about a girl that learns magic in a complicated magic system with diagrams and magic circles and lots of math. I don't remember any of the story but I remember a specific scene in the book. She is sitting under a tree in her backyard that has been there since she was little, looking at the clouds and leaves above her. She starts to notice patterns in the leaves and for some reason she can understand them. The patterns are a way for the tree to talk to her and she has a conversation with the tree. Does anybody know the name of this book?

The series was about a girl who won the lottery and moved to a small town, she lived next to an artist and they had an affair which was carried on through the series. There was also a cross over from a Marian Keyes character, a film company was adapting a character from the Marian Keyes novel “other side of the story” into a movie in the town. I’ve searched high and low for this series, it’s been driving me crazy for years, I really hope someone knows it!!

we found an answer for you...

We think this book is Murder Down the Shore by Beth Sherman!

Can't remember the title of this children's fantasy book

The book was about a prince of a fantasy realm who had the power to do pretty much anything. He stopped the rain because he didn't like it. He found this was not a good idea. The next thing he did was stop all death, also finding that was not a good idea.

Honestly need to find this book

Hi everyone, like most person here I'm trying to find a book I read but can't remember its title or author. The details of the book are a bit cloudy in my memory but it had a female lead whom I believe was sent off by her family to live with an evil man. I think he was magical, definitely a mysterious character and kept her locked away in his house or castle...sort of like a beauty and the beast remake. Anyways, the story ends with her falling in love with him and I vaguely remember something like the castle disappearing....obviously it's not much to go by but please help me!

Deathgate Cycle

Someone else actually posted a different description for the same book series. 7 books in the series called Deathgate cycle . One your describing is book 1, dragon wing. Book series takes place after a nuclear apocalypse with two races of demi god like beings. Sartan race and Patryn race. Both races fear each other to the point the patryn race gets thrown into a labyrinth type dungeon thats supposed to rehabilitate then. Something goes wrong and the Sarton race vanishes causing the seemingly harmless magic of the dungeon to go unchecked and turns the labyrinth deadly. Instead of learning the value of life, the patryns are taught the value of hate and vengence and vow to escape and take over the world and destroy it once again. The part with the vanishing castle and the woman in love with the evil wizzard is close to the end of book 1. Something else I forgot to mention is the planet earth is sundered into 4 new worlds, Earth, air, fire, and water. The two waring races must come to terms with each.other because their abuse of power has awakened the most oldest evil known, and not even magic can stop it.

I think this might be

I think this might be "Uprooted" by Naomi Novik.

Drowned child in swimming pool

I do not recall title or author. I read this book at least a dozen or more years ago. Novel begins with a woman who is falling apart. Her husband has left her and her swimming pool, I believe, is drained. It takes a while before the whole picture becomes clear. I believe it is set in California (?). Nice home, successful husband. You are first inclined to believe that the woman has fallen apart because her husband simply up and left her. Only until much later you realize husband left as he wife was having an affair with the pool boy and while doing so their young child drowned in the swimming pool. Sound familiar to anyone. Thanks!

Please name this book

2 boys and a girl have had their memory taken. they meet a guy who tells them to kill the king and they will get there memory back.at the end of the book they find out that they are the kings children. and that their memories were taken because of a prophecy saying that they would try to kill the king. I know it is part of a series and that the main boy can use magic. because in the 2nd book he casts a spell to stop children from killing their father.

Book of Lies

Book of Lies

(I’ve been looking everywhere

(I’ve been looking everywhere for this for months now, but nothing comes up on google) There are definitely 2 books in this series, and I’ve read both, but remember no names or titles... Starting with book one. The cover has a picture of someone that looks like Jackie from That 70s show (That’s what drew me to it) standing on the right side, looking left(ish), wearing a choker with a gem. The book starts off on a hot day, where a girl (wearing a choker) drives into town and she’s absolutely stunning (everyone else is sweating and she has no hairs out of place. This guy (who wants to be a lawyer) finds himself staring at her, but he’s got a girlfriend. This girl becomes his friend and all the end of the book, he and his girlfriend get on a boat. He has a vision of this girl pushing the girlfriend into the water (I forget if she was dying or dead) but no one believes him... Book two starts with everyone blaming this guy for killing his girlfriend, and slowly everyone turns on him. It turns out the girl he met was killed in the Salem Witch Trials by his ancestor, so she wanted revenge. The book ends with her burning alive in her house on a long hill. I think at some point a car crashes on its way up the hill? (Though I watched Hide And Seek while reading it, so I may be wrong?) If anyone knows the name of the first book, or at least the author, I’ve been trying to find it so long, and google isn’t helping.

This one book I read in my school library

I remember this one book I can't remember the name but it was part of a series. It had two main characters as it took place in modern day. The boy is Noah and the girl is Kat/Kate, it's been so long. In one of the books, Noah found a girl who claims to be just like him and for some reason she entices him and make him fall for her while the girl Kat/Kate is trying to find her mother that has gone missing or presumed dead.

Can’t find a book

This book is about a girl whose name is piper or poppy or something and she’s really poor and she has to pick pocket people for her family then she meets this young boy whose grandpa or dad works at a jewelry shop and someone makes a mold of the key and robs the shop and she gets blamed and she lives in the boys shed for a bit I think. The book had a red/orange color

Can’t find this book

I only remember the book cover of a girl standing and behind her is a tree and she is holding her dress. Basically the story goes like this. The girl is the most popular girl at school and she has a boyfriend. She soon starts to get interested in this mysterious boy who own a motorcycle. In the end, she is kidnaped by her boyfriend in a cabin located in the woods and is badly injured. The police finds her thanks to the mysterious guy and the boyfriend is arrested. It ends when the mysterious boy tells her to stay way from him. And I only know ther is a sequel to it. It will be highly appreciated if someone can tell me the name of the book.

Dragonvarld by Margaret Weiss

It was while answering a lot of the above questions others asked that it struck a cord so to speak. Heck, I may even have the book still. Its called Dragonvarld and it was written by Margaret Weiss alone unlike many of the others with Tracy Hickman. Also found out she made a 3rd book which suprised me because I thought things had ended in book 2. Then again I was a kid when I read the first two so over looked it.

Good that you found it!

Good that you found it! It's because you helped others :

I read this book a long time

I read this book a long time ago as a child probably around 1996 or 1997 The book is about a woman (or girl) who loved everything blue. Her house was blue. I think her food was also blue. The book itself was blue I used to wait for my parents to fetch me from the library and this is the book I remember reading. I initially started out by asking the older kids to read for me and when no one wanted to, I had to learn to read it myself. As you can probably tell my favourite colour is blue. Please help. That would make my day Thanks

Murder mystery

I read this book at my aunt's house in the 70s and can't recall the name. I think it was something like the scent of the roses, but I've seen other books with that name that aren't what I'm looking for. The protagonist was a young teen girl, which is probably why I related to it. I think the book was in a red binding. She was staying with her relatives (I think) as her parents had been murdered (I think.) what I do remember was one evening, May have been Christmas eve, another relative showed up. He made her uneasy. She went to bed and heard footsteps outside of her door so hid under the bed. The door opened and terrified, she saw a man's feet pass her bed. He was the murderer. He murdered with a hat pin, as I recall. Anyway this book messed me up for awhile and I want to read it again. Can anyone help?

I can't find this book! I don't remember the title, author cover

I read a book and I can't remember the main characters name, but I believe she was like a mail order bride, she hadn't met the man before she went to marry him. He was wealthy and everyone loved him and everyone said she was lucky to be with him and he spoiled her, but really he only gave her things to make himself look good. He was actually really abusive and after he yelled at their baby she decided she would go out and buy things with their "friends" but then secretly sell some of the things later when he wasnt paying attention and when she had enough she would move out and file divorce papers. She ended up getting pregnant again (and the husband later kills this child) but she did move out. She became friends with her neighbor who was a lot chipper and got her to go out to a club or whatever. She eventually fell for another neighbor, I don't remember his actual name but I remember the called him Bear and he was part of the police, which later he helped her catch her no longer husband and put him behind bars, even though he was a really good actor and had made it look like he was distraught over their murdered child.

I can’t remember the title to this book!

What’s the name of this book

It’s a book about a white cop marrying a black woman. His family is racist and his father rapes and murders his son’s wife.

Can't remember a book name or author

I read a book back in the early 2000's. There was a plane crash in Alaska somewhere. There were different points in the snowy terrain where there were supplies. At the end there is a man and woman who tent, almost dead from starvation and cold. They make their way to the plane where they enter and await death. The man comes up with an idea on how to get the plane out. That's about it. Not much, I know, but a great thrilling read. If anyone has a clue of what it could be, I would love to read it again.

we found an answer for you...

We think this book is "Pathways" by Lisa Bergren!

Cant find this book been searchign for 9 years

So I was recommended to read this book similar to Alice in wonderland but the thing is that it had its differences. she winds up falling down a hole on the beach, while chasing after her families dog. She winds up in a new place he dad always talked about ( I think). She then goes forth on a journey to rescue her dog from evil forces, and to possibly find her dad. I know that its not a wrinkle in time, or the phantom tollbooth, or even Alice in wonderland series. I have been trying to find it for years. I wasn't allowed to look a the cover of the book because it gave a lot of the book away. I also remember that it was a fantasy type of realm with crazy creatures, possibly ruled by something. Animals can talk and or are bigger and have important roles as well. Another important tidbit is that there is a map that goes with the book it is illustrated in the book and gives the reader the full breakdown of where they had traveled. that is all I can think of at the moment though. If anyone can think of the name that would be a great help thank you. also it is an older book hardcover, came out between the 70"s and 80's maybe even the 90's.

I can not remember the name of this book

I can not remember the name of this book but I do remember little details, it was a book about this man who told stories about his life, how once his mother beat him with a broom and he never cried, another part of his life he went to war, he talked about his marriages and the last detail I remember he owned a dairy farm. If anyone knows what book I am referring to I greatly appreciate I know it’s not much details but I would love to read this book again!

Forest Gump

I never read the book, but what your describing sounds a lot like Forest Gump. The movie sounds exactly as you described but only difference is its a fishing boat. It quite possibly is the same thing as books and movies tend to have differences to make them uniqie but the titles tend to be the same.

ISO picture book about a brother and sister from the 1980s

Hello, could you help me identify this book? It's a kids softcover picture book about a little sister always trying to keep up with her older brother. Maybe printed by Scholastic? It goes through "When I was one, you were two", "when I was 5, you were 6" and talks about the little sister trying to keep up with her big brother but never catching up in age. One page has a picture of them playing hopscotch I think. At the end the sister realizes she will never catch up and her brother will always be a year older. A funny and sweet book. I want to locate it and give it to my brother for his 40th birthday!! Thanks!

One day this boy accidently touch a painting and sucked into the past. And somehow (I'm not really sure) there is a bad man who tried to get into the future through that painting but this boy and his new friend from the past try to stop him. I also remeber that he wish that he could have bring a coin in his pocket to proof people in the past that he came from the future. And at the end he is able to back to the future and when he touch the painting, it still wet which mean all of his adventure in past is only minutes in the future. Help with fragment

I'm looking for a book or story I read either between '88-'94 or in the past decade, but I'm thinking it's the former and I'm not sure what genre. The majority of the contents elude me, but one specific plot detail stands out. There was a pair of guy angels who were extremely close and they were separated at some point for some reason. I recall when one of them died the other felt it intensely. I want to say their names began with B's, but I could be wrong. I'm currently reading The Amber Spyglass- Book 3 in His Dark Materials series by Philip Pullman. There are a pair of angels who are so similar to what I am describing, but they aren't my story. They are the reason I remember my original pair of angels. If you know my original story, I would be grateful for the information. Attempting a Google search brings up tons of religious stuff, but not anything near what I need.

Please help

I don’t remember the title of this book but I think it came out in 2015-2016. It’s about a boy who is looking for his (ex?) girlfriend after she runs away. She’s pregnant and the story flips between the past and present. I remember they had a cat that they found at an art school in the closet and named it Nala. Towards the end she has the baby and they see each other again. I think its called something along the lines of Love Hate something.

Hi everyone. I read a book

Hi everyone. I read a book years ago about a young girl went to college in the US and started seeing light and dark beings hovering and following other students around and she later realised they were guardian angels and some were dark spirits because that person had strayed from their path once too often and their guardian angel had turned into a mischievous spirit commited to leasing their charge down the wrong path. She starts to communicate with her guardian angel and it turns out there's some sort of war going on between the good and the bad guardian angels. The plot also contains another female character can't remember her name but she is the roommate of the main character at college and she is from Texas/tennessie or some other southern state and she is a good Christian girl who the good and bad guardian angels are trying to turn bad and the main character tries to help her. Please help me find this book as it was such a good read and I would like to read it again. Thanks.

Eluded for over 40 years!

Hi. I read a story about 40 - 45 years ago (so in the mid 1970s). I cannot remember if it was a full length novel or a short story. It was about a young man who lived with his (unsuspecting) mother and he was a murderer. I think his name may have been Danny. The bit I remember most was that he kept a victim's head in a box or suitcase in his room and there is a description of him shaking the box and then opening it, reeling backwards from the smell, but enjoying the experience. Pretty gruesome I know but that is understandably the main bit I can remember! Any help to identify this would be appreciated.

TIME TRAVEL BOOK!

I once read this time travel book and everything is such a blur. I have lost most hope in finding it. I read it back in elementary school and now I moving on to my last year of high school! Here is every thing I remember about it (or believe happened): Towards the beginning these teens (kids?) were in a cave with a bunch of other people, not allowed to leave. They somehow ended up transporting to an era with tons of kings and queens. They learned very quickly that any mistake would change history forever. They were constantly being chased by time travel police. Like I said, they were in an era were kings and queens were large and also at one point they ended up in the middle of a giant war. I am really hoping I got something right about that and that it wasn't just some crazy dream I am remembering.

Looking for a Collection of Short Stories

I'm looking for a collection of real life horror type stories, that might have been titled "Signal" something or other. It was published in paperback form in the late 1950's. Some of the short stories were as follows-- A mother playing bridge hears scratching at her door. Her daughter has been dropped back off on the porch by friends. She had fought another girl with can openers, and had lost an eye./A guy goes to a bar with a friend and his friend gets into a fight. The friend ends up dead when the guy he's fighting sticks a broken bottle in his throat./A guy gropes a teenage girl at a stadium, and worries he might get caught. He sees the same girl smiling and waving at him several weeks later at the same stadium. The girl and her friends begin sticking him with hat pins, and he hemorrhages to death, held upright by the crowd./A man accidentally kills a wife and children while drunk. The father of the dead family drives the drunk's family into a wall as the sobered drunk watches helplessly. (I know, great subject matter with all these stories... Lol) I read this collection of horrific short stories around 1971 or 1972, and my Mom took it from me, and traded it in at a book exchange store. That's the last I saw of it. There were several other stories included, all of them equally as grim. Can anyone help me in my search for this horrible little collection of short stories? Thanks!

Mystery/magic book?

Hello I'm looking for a book that takes place in London in the Victorian era, cobblestones and horse-drawn carriages and elaborate parties, I think, and the main character is a boy who is an apprentice to someone, I think a magician. I don't remember much but he follows him around and he might be a petty theft, not Oliver twist or the Bartimaeus trilogy. He and his master might be on the lower end and towards the end of the book, I think there was a fire and maybe someone died. So I think the overall theme was magic and mystery. thanks if you find it.

The book is called "The Book

The Magic Thief?

Is this book the Magic thief? Never read it, but description seems similar

Any ideas? Family history fiction, pre-statehood California

Pretty thick novel, paperback, that I read back in the 1990s, purchased from a used book store. That tells the life story of a girl from an old Mexican family in California who are horse breeders, own a large estate, and are very rich. The girl marries a white man against her father’s wishes and moves to a town in pre-state California. They have children. Mexico becomes a state and the Civil War begins. Both the husband and his friend fight in the Civil War and (I think) the ex-slaves loses an arm but they both return. The husband’s old mistress plays a role in the book. Eventually, when the children are a little older, the husband begins seeing his old mistress again and the wife starts an affair with her doctor. The doctor gives her an emerald necklace but dies in the Civil War (?). The wife has a daughter (father is the doctor) who is born with a deformed foot. The husband’s mistress has a daughter as well. The new husband has a best friend who is an ex-slave who lives in the same house with them. The ex-slave eventually marries a woman employed as a nanny and has children of his own. The story moves on as the couple gets back together, the children grow up, marry, and have children of their own. One of their sons marries a Chinese girl who wears a red dress with white veil (or vice versa) to her wedding. The doctor’s daughter marries a psychotic man with a fetish for disabled women and who she has to be rescued from by a step-brother later on (he shoots her husband in the head like a sniper). She does have a son who her mother & father raise and then remarries and has a daughter with her second husband who they (or the children) name/call “Rissa”. I believe the husband and wife (the original couple) eventually settle in San Francisco where they live in a mansion on Nob Hill and then take the trolley car down the hill to visit the stables where their horses are kept. The husband eventually dies and the wife attends the wedding shower given for her grandson’s fiancée where she meets the mistress again; but they don’t speak to each other.

Help me find this short story

It is written by a well known author (cannot remember who) and was in a book of short stories. It is about a man who dies but does not realize that he is dead even though he is decomposing. Like when he sneezed and parts of his nose flew off. I want to use it as part of an illustration but I cannot find this story. Please help.

Novel about life after the power grid fails

Read this years ago and it made an impact but I cannot remember the title! It’s about a community after the electric grid fails, no fossil fuels, having to return to farming, riding horses for transportation, etc. A return to agrarian society. There’s a dispute between neighbors or something...perhaps a newcomer to the community causes trouble. Help!

Changes trilogy

I think this might be one of the Changes trilogy by Peter Dickenson. It was made into a movie too.

This sounds like it might be

This sounds like it might be the Emberverse series by S.M. Stirling. The first book is called Dies the Fire.

Possibly the 1949 novel Earth

Possibly the 1949 novel Earth Abides?

The electric grid goes out

I am looking for this same book or books. I believe it was a series of books . Please let me know if you found out thanks

Help me find this book plz I can’t remember the title !:(

I once read this novel and I Remember reading through it so fast because it was so good. It was a series but I never ended up having the time to read the Second book. Now I want to read it but I can’t remember the title. Remember there was a girl in the book the protagonist she is a Wolf, a shape shifter and she saves this guy from getting attacked by a bear. I think after saving him he erases his memory or maybe he forgets. She goes to school the next day and there’s a new student who’s really cute and it turns out that it’s the guy she saved. She has a brother too who is younger than her and a best friend who’s a girl. I think in her school there are more kids that are like her and she’s not supposed to show her power or what she is to humans. I Remember at the end of the book both her and the guy get up kidnapped or something. If you have read a book similar to this please email me the name.

I read a book that sounds

I read a book that sounds vaguely like this description. The book is called Unenchanted by Chanda Hahn. It’s written about the Grimm fairytales

Is it The Gathering by Kelley

Is it The Gathering by Kelley Armstrong (1st book in the Darkness Rising trilogy)?

Shiver series maybe?

This might be Nightshade by

This might be Nightshade by Andrea Creamer

Help me name this book/series

It’s the first book of what I think is a trilogy. I read it 3 or 4 years ago. The main character is a girl who lived on the main land with her family then for some reson(can’t remember) they moved to and island right off the coast I think it was Maine or something was the state? She had a forest behind her backyard. They had a shed in the backyard where I think they either took care of animals or they helped them recover before letting them go free. One day she saw a wolf at the edge of the forest behind her house. (all I remember from the beginning ) later on she is a high school student and falls for this guy at her school. (small town only one on the island) he lives in the forest their is an old house there. (all I remember from the middle) at the end of the book something happens (I think the forest catches fire) and they are forced to evacuate the island. She was in the forest when it caught fire I think. We'll she's forced into a helicopter that landed to evacuate the last people off of the island. And the guy she likes (which was the wolf she saw I think) was still in the forest. She was looking for him and she was forced onto the helicopter with out him. So she's in the helicopter crying I think repeating his name I'm not sure. And that's where it ends.

Is it called 'We were liars'?

Is it called 'We were liars'?

We Were Liars?

Great guess, but I don't think it's right. This sounds like an Island town, not a private island. And there were no wolves in We Were Liars.

Is it The Calling by Kelley

Is it The Calling by Kelley Armstrong (2nd book in the Darkness Rising trilogy)?

So there is this book that I

So there is this book that I have been trying to remember for years. I think it was a series. I know in one of the books, this girl's dad died in the military (I think) trying to save someone. But he shows up at their house in the middle of the night. I think the girl lived with her mother and maybe someone else, like her grandmother.

I'm looking for a book on

The boy in the story lives above a garage that was his dads before his died and is a mechanic, his mother is remarried to his dads bestfrien and he has an 11 year old sister. Mills and Boon Presents - 1990s - Good/Bad Twin

Hi, I read a M&B Presents book in 1997-98 time where one twin is engaged to a rich ruthless guy, wants out, she (and mom, i think) forces the good submissive twin to marry in her place. The guy despises the mom and the bad twin anyways and treats this girl with contempt first. Then he finds out she is either a virgin or not really experienced and starts to become a bit kinder. Then the bad twin decides to come back and acts like she is the wife. The guy does not really encourage or discourage this behaviour. i remember a party where the twin acts as if she is the hostess and the guy just stands there near her doing nothing and the wife is really embarassed and heartbroken. Does this strike any chords? I am desperate. Please help.

This is coming years after

This is coming years after and not a M&B but The husband trap by Tracy anne warren has the same story line

British book, schoolboy falls from tree branch & dies

The story is about the character of his friend who was jumping on the branch, putting him at risk. He always changed the rules of games, believed he was exempt from rules until his friend dies from the fall.

Definitely A Separate Peace

That is definitely A Separate Peace. We had to read it in junior high (circa 1993 but it was pretty old even then). The guy who dies is Phineas. The main character is, I think, Gene. Takes place at a British prep school during a world war--the second one, probably. There was a character named Brinker Hadley, and our teacher helped us remember the vocabulary word "salient" (i.e. something that stands out) by pointing out the phrase "Brinker Hadley's salient buttocks" in a descriptive passage. Must have worked--I still remember it decades later!

I remember that one too!

I also read that in middle school . . . in 1979. Left a lasting impression.

Kidnapped? Mental Illness? Stockholm Syndrome?

It was a YA novel I read in middle school, from the 80s/90s. A preteen-ish girl gets abducted by a young man who has escaped a mental institution and thinks she is his younger sister. I thought is was called “Kidnapped” or “Abducted” or something like that?

Law of Nines by Terry Goodkind

The book im suggesting called Law of Nines is not from the period you mentioned but is extremely similar. The story is similar but involves a boy who visits his mom in a psyche ward and discovers she is fine and that there is a huge coverup and he gets trapped along with his mom. Its an offshoot of a series called the Sword of Truth so if you like the law of nines then I highly suggest the series that starts with Wizzards first Rule. You dont need to read the series in order to read law of nines as the characters and story have very little relation to one another.

Do you have any clue what this book is called?

The second book is called

The second book is called Kidnapped but the first one is called abduction by Gordon Korman. I think That’s what your talking about

help me find this book?

i've been looking for thie title of this book for months. i can't remember any of the names of the characters, but i remember it being about a girl whose parents split up. she was a fairly quiet girl and a good student and she got roped into a peer-to-peer therapy type of program under the pretenses that she'd be helping another student better themselves. her partner turned out to be a well-known delinquent in her school, with her hair dyed an unusual color (blue? i believe). throughout the book they become closer and learn secrets about one another (like the delinquent girl playing piano and actually enjoying it, but contemplating giving it up because her parents wouldn't let her do it unless she dressed in "normal" clothing and had a "normal" hair color) and end up becoming friends by the end.

ohmygod reading this gave me

ohmygod reading this gave me whiplash I remember this book! Did you ever find it?? I've been wracking my mind like crazy but can't remember what it was called. I feel like the delinquent girl was named Melody or Melanie or something like that .

I'm pretty sure your talking

I'm pretty sure your talking about define normal.

Goth Like Me

Hey, this sounds like a book I read in my teen years, Goth Like Me. I think the delinquent girl’s name was Jasmine but she went by Jazz and her hair was half-shaven. When she performed her piano recital she styled her hair so that she would look somewhat “normal” and please her parents.

Does anyone remember an older

Does anyone remember an older book, young adult novel, about a feminist teacher who starts at a new school and starts a girls club. One of the girls is named Bambi. Another girl likes Bambi's boyfriend but is then raped by his brother. I can't remember anything else except for an abusive father of one of the girls and in the last scene she is walking up to brain him with a frying pan I think...anyone have any ideas? I feel like it was a well known book at the time.

Daughters of Eve?

Daughters of Eve?

Daughters of Eve

It could be - The Seven Daughters of Eve by Bryan Sykes. In it, it speaks of the testing of the Daughters Daughters of Daughters back through the generations. It relates specifically to the Women of North America and their Relationship to those Women of the Indigenous Tribes of the Pacific Islands and New Zealand, the Aborigines of Northern Australia and Papua New Guinea and how they are Related to the Women of Mongolia and from there back to Women Israel via the Old Spice Routes of East Asia. Hope that is Helpful.

Daughters of Eve by Lois

Daughters of Eve by Lois Duncan. As a teen I loved everything else written by Lois Duncan, but I hated this!

Daughters of Eve by Lois

Daughters of Eve by Lois Duncan. You clearly read the bowdlerized later edition: I would highly recommend the earlier 1979 edition, much misunderstood as supposedly anti-feminist, which is ridiculous. Duncan employs a Shakespearean technique to examine the various aspects of male chauvinism. It does have a large # of characters, so you might jot a sentence down about each to help keep them straight. Great book!

Do you know what book is it? Please help!

Last year I read first chapter of the book I picked occasionally in the Bookstore. Can’t remember anything else about except that the story is about teenage girl whose father is a politician and her mom died from cancer several year ago. How they gave interview to the press about something bad her dad was involved into, and how she escaped from their big house to meet up with friends. I can’t sleep, if you know what book is it, I’ll be very thankful!

Could be your book

I think you might have picked up The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson.

Book

I can’t remember the title or characters names but this is what the story was about. A girl meets a boy in a dinner or something like that and he looks familiar to her and he turns out to be sort or a ghost and they find out she had a sister. She remembers that her sister was in love with a boy and they got married without her parents knowing and then they get into a fight and the boy kills her then the building their in catches on fire and he becomes a hero in the newspaper because he saved the baby and no one knows he killed her. At the end she finds out the boy she met at the dinner was the boy who killed her sister.

theres a town thats actually revealed to be a wild life reserve in the end, people live in that wild life reserve and theres a guy with a disability who dresses up in red and commits murders while in disguise as a red monster.

I’m pretty sure this is the

I’m pretty sure this is the plot of the movie Village by M Night Shyamalan. Idk if there’s a book of the same name though.

Help me find this book.

I have been searching for this book for a long time now. I read it when I was still in school, anywhere from 4-7 years ago. The main character is a girl, who I believe was travelling with at least one other person. He played a sort of instrument. I know it was set in a different world. And at one point the girl received a cloak/cape thing that had pockets that were bigger on the inside. There was also a scene where they were having to run through trees, where the branches were thick enough that they could actually run pretty well until they got higher up. I know my details are hazy and a bit confusing. But I'm sure it was a series! and I'm desperate to find it!! Please help!!

Try Dragon Quest by Donita K.

Try Dragon Quest by Donita K. Paul. Kale is an orphan who finds out she is some Dragon egg Hatcher guardian. If it's not that book, it's one of the other ones in the series.

Trying to find a book about a Man named Finn

There was a book, actually there were at least two books (not quite a series). It was about a man named Finn who was apart of the Fionna. He didn't know who his mother was but wore a lock of her golden hair around his neck that he had taken when he was a child. There were also two children who found their way into Finn's world and out of their own, but that's as much of it as I can remember. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
