Microfilm Duplication and Digitization Services

Working with a vendor, reels will be sent off-site to be duplicate or digitized.  Please complete a Microfilm Duplication / Digitization form and submit via email to permissions@nypl.org or mail to the address on the form.

Microfilm Duplication

Fee is $100 per reel for individual researchers/nonprofits/ government agencies and $150 per reel for all other organizations. There is also a  fee for shipping reels to and from the vendor starting at $40 for up to 5 reels. Please refer to order form for delivery options.

If material is in copyright, written clearance from a rights holder is required. Turnaround is 6 to 8 weeks from receipt of payment.

Microfilm Digitization

Fee is $150 per reel for individual researchers/nonprofits/ government agencies and $200 per reel for all other organizations.

If material is in copyright, written clearance from a rights holder is required.   Files will be delivered electronically. Orders will include:

  • Archival TIFF image files
  • PDF (Uncorrected OCR text conversion in PDF files) One PDF file will be created for each TIFF image
  • JPEG files for easy access

Turnaround is 8 weeks from receipt of payment.
