Workout for One: Digital Fitness Videos You Can Do at Home

Frustrated that you're unable to go to the gym, dojo, dance school or yoga studio? No worries. Try streaming these fitness videos to learn a new skill or get a basic refresher course that will get your body active and moving.

Exercise at home, in the backyard (if you're lucky enough to have one), or in a park. Minimal sports equipment is required, aside from an internet connection and streaming device,  towel and floor mat, and your library card. Just make sure to take it easy to avoid injuries and practice physical and social distancing from other people to stay safe.

All fitness instructional film descriptions are provided by the respective publishers. Some films are for all audiences while others are for people 14 years-old and older. Please be mindful and "return" your digital materials when you are done so that other patrons may use them as soon as possible, too.

Was excited to see links to

Was excited to see links to ‘workouts for 1’, given that we are all home bound. Why did you bother if there are only 2 copies and the waitlist is longer than the quarantine will hopefully be?

Hi Susan. Some of those

Hi Susan. Some of those linked above are currently available for checkout (I just checked now). Others, yes, you would have to join a waitlist. We are encouraging people to "return" their e-checkouts as soon as they're done rather than wait for the checkout to expire so that others can also use the material. We "bothered" to write this post to highlight that library patrons can borrow this type of material from home and stay active. If the materials above aren't currently available, you can check the "available now" section of the videos collection and choose "instructional videos" to find more of this genre. https://nypl.overdrive.com/collection/26066?subject=361&sortBy=mostpopular-site
