Access for Persons with Disabilities
The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture is committed to enabling all readers with physical disabilities to take full advantage of the Library's resources.
There is an electric door switch at the front door. All parts of the collections and the public restrooms are accessible to persons using wheelchairs. Programs and events at the Langston Hughes Auditorium and Atrium are accessible for people using wheelchairs. The American Negro Theater and the Gift Shop are currently not wheelchair-accessible, pending renovations.
In order to assist people with disabilities, the staff takes an active approach to providing access to its services and collections. The Library's staff is always available during your visit for clarification and assistance. Services for Individuals with Mobility Impairments
The building and all divisions of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture are wheelchair accessibile. There are accessible restrooms for women and for men.
