Access for Persons with Disabilities

The renovated building of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center is fully accessible to individuals with disabilities, including the incorporation of ADA-compliant ramps, doorways, restrooms and elevators. In addition, its screening facilities feature wheelchair-accessible viewing carrels, individual laptop computers enabling non-verbal communication, and volume-enhancing headphone adaptors. The Library for the Performing Arts also serves as a source for many performance accessibility projects at Lincoln Center and throughout the area.

Checkroom Services

As a service to researchers, and to improve the study environment for all, the The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts provides a supervised, no-fee checkroom, located on the third floor adjacent to the Research Collections Reading Room.

Copy Services (On-Site)

Circulating Collections

Self-service copy machines are located on the 1st floor. Printing from computer workstations is available throughout the library.

Research Divisions

Photocopy services are available on the 3rd Floor. You must seek the approval of a librarian in order to photocopy research materials.

Please note that we do allow the use of digital cameras (including smartphones) to photograph research materials, according to the NYPL policy on photography.

Advance Requests

You may request that items from certain on-site collections at our four Research Centers be reserved for you prior to your visit.Read More ›

Special Collections

Readers may consult most materials in the Research Collections Reading Room, but rare and fragile materials must be used in a staff-supervised reading area, the Katharine Cornell-Guthrie McClintic Reading Room. When necessary, readers are referred to this room.
