The Wertheim Study, established in 1963 by author and scholar Barbara Tuchman in honor of her father, Maurice Wertheim, publisher of "The Nation" and a founder of The Theatre Guild, serves individuals requiring extensive use of the Library’s materials (related to the humanities and social sciences) for the preparation of books, articles, dissertations, or other research projects.  The initial assignment is not less than three, nor more than nine months.

The Study is available whenever the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building is open to the public.
