Digital Exhibition: Margo Moore
Today, we are excited to share the work of NYPL Librarian Margo Moore. Margo is a Children's Librarian in Manhattan.
Artist Statement:
Hi, My name is Margo Moore and I am a New York artist working in various media. Lately I have been concentrating making work using organically growing lines with an ink pen. I find beauty in primary elements and naturally occurring shapes and rhythms. They suggest an infinite universe, this invisible space portrayed by the visible.
Thousands of tiny marks organized into different forms where the micro construction and macro shapes are both evident. From the apparent simplicity, patterns reveal themselves as the drawing evolves. They suggest anything from far distant galaxies to the microscopic world full of symmetry. The variations of the size of the marks also emphasizes the growth of these shapes and of all living organisms. I felt it appropriate to encapsulate sketches or portraits of people into petri dishes, given our quarantine situation.
My work can be found on my website and on my Instagram @margo_art_studio.
