“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” —Nelson Mandela

July 18 was Nelson Mandela International Day—a day to commemorate Nelson Mandela’s birthday and a reminder that we all have the responsibility and ability to take action and make a difference in our communities and throughout the world. Nelson Mandela always strived towards the greater good for humanity even after spending 27 years as a political prisoner in South Africa. He became the first Black president of South Africa serving from 1994-1999. He was also a human rights activist, lawyer, and Nobel laureate.
