Summer Reading 2019: A Women's Literary World Cup
Are you watching the 2019 Women’s World Cup? The tournament is in full swing with the Round of 16 starting this weekend! To keep up the international mood between matches, we have reading suggestions featuring women authors from the 24 countries competing in the Women’s World Cup. Some teams may have been eliminated this week, but our Literary World Cup teams are still going strong. All readers are welcome!
Notes on the teams: We didn't place 11 "players" on each team (as there would be on an actual soccer team), so many of your favorite writers may not be included. We invite you to nominate additional players in the comments section below! In an effort to balance out the teams, we also listed a few American and British authors under their countries of birth (e.g. Min Jin Lee is listed under South Korea and Nicole Dennis-Benn under Jamaica.)
