Adults and teens who have low fines (less than $15) or no fines on their library cards can borrow items for a one-time, three-week lending period.

We also have information sheets on job interview tips, free career resources and suggested books, and websites and organizations that can help with professional fashion advice and attire.

The New York Public Library Grow Up mini-lending library program is funded through the New York Public Library Innovation Project, which is made possible by a generous grant from The Charles H. Revson Foundation. Other donations came from Career Gear and private individuals.

For more information about the NYPL Grow Up work accessories lending library, stop by the Riverside Library at 127 Amsterdam Ave and 65th Street. Visit the second floor information desk, talk to a librarian, and check it out!

The NYPL Grow Up program is no longer accepting material donations. If you would like to make a financial contribution to the library program, please visit our website and chose the Riverside Library in the donation drop-down menu.

Grow Up Library

Amazing and brilliant. Don't like the name. Suggestions: Job Ready Library, Job Training Library, Job Interview Library Much respect.

I agree -

I think this is a great initiative, and appreciate that it must have taken a lot of work to put it together, so thank you for creating it. I will promote it to our community college students, but both "dress up" and "grow up" have the connotation of children playing at being adults and I'm going to hesitate to repeat either phrase in our promotion of the program. I think Michael Lynch's suggestions are good, or any number of other phrases like Career Ready, Career Accessories, Professional Shine, Spruced Up, Professional Adornment, Put Your Best Foot Forward, Polished and Professional - anything clearly addressed to adults looking to make a great impression at a job interview. Even just truncating what seems to be the official title now to just Work Fashion Library would be better.

What a wonderful program!

What a wonderful program! Great job, NYPL!

Awesome.

Hey NYPL, this is an awesome service. #TeamNYPL

Donation

I run an suiting accessories line and would love to donate items. Please let me know how

This is fantastic. Thank you.

This is fantastic. Thank you.

Ties... ugh. Formality... ugh.

Great intentions, but I’d like to see ties go extinct as a required fashion acccessory for any job interview or job. Please work the real problem, not the symptom.

Ties and such

This program is fantastic. Moreover, it might make sense to expand to suit jackets for men and women, which sounds ideal for a corp donor. With regard to the person who indicated they wished ties were not part of an interview anymore, agree, however NYPL nor anyone else giving of their time, energy, or durable goods for this program can shift the tide so quick. For now therefore, these things are a necessary evil. Your statement about "address the problem not the symptom" lacks any true understanding and is patently obnoxious and will not serve anyone struggling to find a job.
