Health Insurance Open Enrollment 2017: Assistance at The New York Public Library

As you may have seen in the news, we are in the middle of “Open Enrollment”—the yearly period when people can enroll in a health insurance plan. For more information, check here: /help/community-outreach/affordablecare

New York State
“NY State of Health is an organized marketplace designed to help people shop for and enroll in health insurance coverage. Individuals, families and small businesses can use the Marketplace to help them compare insurance options, calculate costs and select coverage.”
Important Dates for New York State residents:
- November 1, 2017 — Open enrollment begins for Qualified Health Plan coverage in 2018
- January 31, 2018 — Last day to enroll for Qualified Health Plan coverage in 2018

Medicare
“Medicare is the federal health insurance program for people who are 65 or older, certain younger people with disabilities, and people with End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a transplant, sometimes called ESRD). The different parts of Medicare help cover specific services.”

Assistance at Science, Industry and Business Library (SIBL)
Meet with a counselor from the NYC Department for the Aging HIICAP Program and get answers to your Medicare questions. Make your free Medicare counseling appointment today. For further assistance with your appointment, please call 212-602-4392.
Assistance via Single Stop
Single Stop at NYPL provides assistance with Medicaid, Medicare, and New York State of Health insurance plans. Contact the Single Stop office at 212-576-0024, 212-340-0861 or email singlestop@nypl.org. You can also stop by in person at the Grand Central Library Monday through Friday 10am to 6pm.
