I <3 Sci Fi!

This book club sounds so cool. I really enjoyed 2312 too! Just had to share some more book recs, especially since Frank said he likes apocalyptic fiction. Have you heard of the Dying Earth genre? My husband got me into it. It's set so far in the future that the sun is red and getting cold and most of humanity has gone to other planets for better things, so the people left on Earth are in this kind of moral anarchy led by local warlords or chieftains that gives it exotic medieval overtones. They will come across technology that is so advanced that it's like magic to the reader/character. It makes for a strange mix of sci fi and fantasy. Jack Vance wrote short stories about it and pioneered the genre but my favorites are by Gene Wolf. His series is called The Book of the New Sun. I think you would really like it Frank!

Thank you!

Nice recs! I'm admittedly terrifed of books in a series (commitment issues?!) but these do sound verrrry intriguing. Thanks again and thanks for listening!

Thanks!

Wanted to thank Gwen for an earlier recommendation of Maybelle the Cable Car. Got it from the library for my 5 year old and he's been obsessed! We've been watching you tube videos and learning all kinds of stuff. You guys are both great!! Looks forward to your podcast every week.

thanks so much!

Hooray for Maybelle! I adore that book -- so glad you like it too. <3
