On the fourth Wednesday of January each year, libraries and readers across social media share selfies with bookshelves and tag them #LibraryShelfie! It's a fun way to share a love of libraries on social media. This year marked the fourth annual #LibraryShelfie Day, and as always, libraries and readers all over social media shared some amazing pics!

These are just 12 of our favorites that we spotted today—we had a lot of trouble narrowing it down from all of the great pics people shared! You can explore way more amazing shots on Instagram and Twitter!

Fabulous Project

Great idea and fabulous pics. Libraries are the bedrock of any just and wise society and these shelfies demonstrate the people's continuing love of them.

On the last Wednesday of January each year ... ?

Hi -- we just wanted to double-check this year's date. We've seen some publicity identifying the 2018 library shelfie date as 1/24, but the LAST Wednesday of January is 1/31. (?????)

#LibraryShelfie

It's always the fourth Wednesday in January. The fourth Wednesday is usually also the last Wednesday so in the past Library Shelfie Day was sometimes promoted as being on the last Wednesday in January, but this January has five Wednesdays. Museum Selfie Day is the third Wednesday of January, and Library Shelfie Day is the following Wednesday.
