Wow! Now that all the dust has cleared on an exhilarating 2016 Major League Baseball postseason, one team remains standing, and that team is the Chicago Cubs. I'm sure it was never drawn up to be "108 years in the making", but the team and the city are certainly smiling  today, and for good reason. Congratulations to the World Champion Cubs, and to their incredibly loyal, patient, and dedicated fanbase! To celebrate the North Side Nine's first championship win in over a century, why not check out a book on them? Laugh and be merry as Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, and Kerry Wood amongst others bring us entertaining stories from the field, the dugout, and the clubhouse, right to you through this charming book. 

Cubs Nation: 162 Games, 162 Stories, 1 Addiction by Gene Wojciechowski: A similar book to Game of My Life. There are more stories from former players (this time, one story for every day of the regular season totaling 162) and it's another fun read. Lots of history, and lots of interesting photographs for those looking to study up on their Chicago Cub history.

Wrigley Field

A Nice Little Place on the North Side: Wrigley Field at One Hundred by George F. Will: At 102 years old, the Cubs' ballpark Wrigley Field is the oldest ballpark in the National League, and second oldest field overall behind Boston's Fenway Park. In this book, George F. Will steps away from politics for a bit, and relives some memories that occurred at good old Wrigley Field. 

Before Wrigley Became Wrigley: The Inside Story of the First Years of the Cubs’ Home Field by Sean Deveney: This book is super interesting. As outlined here, Wrigley Field was not always known as Wrigley Field. It wasn't even always the home of the Cubs! The field was originally built for a Federal League team called the Chicago Whales. Definitely an interesting story you'll want to read!

World Series Play

Chicago in the World Series, 1903-2005: The Cubs and White Sox in Championship Play by Bruce A. Rubenstein: Before all the books that will inevitably be written on both the 2016 Cubs, and the 2016 World Series in general, let this book remind you of other instances both Chicago baseball franchises participated in the World Series, with the most recent prior to this season being the White Sox's 4-game sweep over the Houston Astros in 2005.

When Chicago Ruled Baseball: The Cubs-White Sox World Series of 1906 by Bernard A. Weisberger: Know what one of the coolest tidbits out of the 1906 World Series is? It was the last time two teams made their World Series debut at the same time, and it just happened to be the two teams from Chitown! You can read up on that series, as well as the incredible seasons both clubs had in 1906 in Bernard Weisberger's book.
