The Pregnant Librarian Recommends

NanorAs the resident pregnant librarian at my branch, I am constantly aware of my altered state, especially when baby girl is kicking my insides like a ninja while I’m working. In addition to the smiling glances from patrons at my belly and comments like “When are you due?!” there are also other internal side effects such as pregnancy brain which includes forgetfulness, moodiness, alongside feelings of anticipation and excitement of what is to come. I also have occasional physical ailments such as fatigue and headache.

But enough about poor old me! This time in my life made me realize that finding the right reading material and entertainment is necessary during these nine months, considering that there is a substantial amount of nesting time at home. Luckily for me, I am a librarian surrounded by endless resources!

There is a lot of information out there about pregnancy on the Internet, but it is important to be properly informed through appropriate books on the subject that you can pick up at your local branch and also articles that you may find in our articles and databases. Besides the obvious pregnancy guides and such, soon to be parents may also want to read fiction and watch movies, which is why I compiled this list.

Here are some of the most recent Nonfiction books on pregnancy that the library currently offers, to keep you informed on topics ranging from general health information to cookbooks, wellness, sex, and humor. When you need an escape, there is plenty of new fiction about pregnancy and also hilarious movies to keep you laughing and to help you forget that sometimes you want to cry at everything.
