USPTO: Unpaid Externship - Information Technology
The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) , an agency of the Department of Commerce, has some unpaid positions offered in its Summer Externship 2015 program.
This program is intended to give students an opportunity to experience what it's like to work at PTO, as well as interact with experts in several disciplines, explore opportunities and develop or enhance personal and professional skills.
If selected, you will be assigned to a project for which you will own specific tasks in one of OCIO's five offices. You will learn new skills, procedures and techniques in the following business areas:
- Finance, Budget and Acquisitions
- Policy and Governance
- Project and Human Capital Management
- Software Development
- Infrastructure Engineering
- Systems Architecture
- Information Management, Public Search Services and Service Desk Support
- Cybersecurity
- Website and Collaboration Tools
- Software Testing, Quality Assurance and Test Automation
This is a 10-12 week summer program. If selected to participate, you will be expected to begin work on June 1, 2015, unless other arrangements are made with the selecting official. Your end date at USPTO will be no later than September 5, 2015. You will be expected to work 36-40 hours per week.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizenship or National.
- You must complete a student agreement with the USPTO.
- You must be currently accepted or enrolled in a qualifying institution
