They All Love to Read: Adult Summer Reading Winners at the Bronx Library Center
Last Saturday, August 23, we concluded our Adult Summer Reading Challenge 2014. Winners were announced and prizes awarded. Each participant had to submit logs of the books they read over the summer with a brief review of each title. The four top prizes were awarded as follows:
First Prize - Shamteek Cutts
Second Prize - James Daniels
Third Prize - Nicola Anderson-Cutts
Fourth Prize - Carmen Bolar
The four winners read a total of 149 books.
After the presentation we spoke to some of the participants and here is what they had to say:
How did you hear about the program?
I came in the library to register my children for Summer Reading then I heard that there is a Summer Reading Program for Adults.
What motivated/inspired you to participate?
I love to read and I want to compete with my husband to see who can read the most.
What do you like to read?
Urban Fiction, Mystery and Romance.
When and where do you like to read?
I like to read while commuting. Also, on weekends when the kids are away. I also like to read with my husband and discuss the stories after.

In the park, and at nighttime at home.

On the trains, at home in a special chair, and on vacation.

I love to read. I was also motivated by the prizes.

At the beach alone, and in my living room after the children are in bed.

Each year the New York Public Library offers a Summer Reading Program for Adults, Teens and Children. Stay tuned for next Summer. The program runs from the beginning of June through the end of August.
