Reader’s Den
Reader's Den May Discussion: Eleven Days by Lea Carpenter
It is May 11, 2011. Sara is a single mother living in a quiet Pennsylvania town. Her son Jason, a Navy SEAL, has been missing for nine days.
As Sara waits for news she reminisces and we learn the story of how Sara came to be a single mother with a son in the special forces. It was not what she expected. Above all Sara loves her son and tries to understand why people, especially her son, make the choices they do.
Through recollections and letters the characters’ stories unfold and we are left with our own thoughts about love, war, sacrifice and happiness.
This is the author’s first novel.
