Teen Events

Teen Café Remixed
Mondays, November 4, 18, 25, 2 - 4 p.m.
Come join us for fun in the community room. Play your favorite games on the PS3 and the Wii. Come hang out with your friends! You can bring your snacks, soda, coffee, homework, iPod. Check out a laptop and browse the internet! For ages 12-18.

Teen Club
Wednesdays, November 6, 13, 20, 2 – 4 p.m.
Your two favorite programs – Teen Art & Anime Club have combined! Talk Anime and Draw Manga or Talk Manga and don’t draw Anime. It’s up to you. For ages 12 to 18.

Friday, November 22, 2 – 4 p.m.
Join our Teen Advisory Group and get hands on experience volunteering for the Library. Earn Community Service hours by attending our monthly meetings and giving us your input! What's happening in your world? What’s the hottest book, movie, or cd right now? What programs does the library need? This is a great way to meet new friends and really get involved in what goes on here at the New Dorp Library. For ages 12-18.

For ages 3 years and up.
Enjoy hearing books read aloud, finger plays, action rhymes and coloring.

Preschool Program

For ages 2 to 5 years and their caregiver.

“Harvest Moon”
Thursday, November 14, 4 p.m.
Join us for this trip of Native American Folktales that is sure to delight all ages. With music, dance and theatrical flare, our master storyteller will share a rich oral tradition and transport you to another time and place. For ages 6 and older. Seating is first-come, first-served.

Thanksgiving Craft
Thursday, November 21, 4 p.m.
For ages 5 to 12 years
Celebrate the autumn season and create a craft.
Preregistration needed, starting 1 week ahead.

Free Family Movies
Saturdays, 2 p.m.
11/2 “Secret of the Wings”, 11/9 "Happy Feet Two”, 11/30 “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”
Children may take home a free coloring sheet of the movie character.

Free Math & Reading Tutoring
Tuesdays, 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.
Saturdays, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., 2 - 4 p.m.
Free math tutoring for children Pre-K to 8th grade
Free reading tutoring for children Pre-K to 3rd grade
Presented by Staten Island Technical volunteers and Stuyvesant High School volunteers.
Space is limited. Register in person that day.

Computer Classes in Spanish/Clases de computación en español

Bilingual Knitting and Crochet Club (English and Español)
Mondays, November 4 and 18, 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Participants must supply their own yarn, needles, and hooks.

Stay Well Exercise Program
Tuesdays, November 5, 12, 19 and 26, 1 - 2 p.m.
The Stay Well exercise program is geared for all seniors, ranging from the fit to those with disabilities. The curriculum includes aerobic exercises as well as routines designed to enhance balance, build muscle strength and aid in the performance of the tasks associated with daily living. Classes end with stress reduction exercises. Classes normally run 40 - 50 minutes and are held once a week.

Zumba Workout
Thursdays, November 7 and 21, 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
Zumba is a fusion of Latin & international music combined with dance fitness moves. Come in sneakers and comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle.

American Mah Jongg
Friday, November 8 and 22, 2013 @ 2:30-4 p.m.
Join other American Mah Jongg enthusiasts for an afternoon of enjoyable play. If you have a Mah Jongg set and a Mah Jongg Card, please bring them. All levels welcome.

Creative Nonfiction/Fiction/Poetry Writing Workshop
