"Ptolemy Geographia", ca. 1460-70 by Nicolaus Germanus. Manuscripts & Archives DivisionThis Fall started out really busy for the NYPL Registrar's Office. Which makes us very happy, as we are involved in some very exciting exhibition projects through the loan of important items from our collections.

One of these exhibitions is Measuring and Mapping Space at the NYU Institute for the Study of the Ancient World (ISAW). If you are in New York City you should definitely plan to visit this exhibition. It opened on October 4 and has already received wonderful reviews in the press. The NYPL is lending six important works for this exhibition from our Manuscripts & Archives Division, Rare Books Division and Spencer Collection. As always, we followed standard museum guidelines and best practices when shipping collection works. For this loan in particular we also had our Senior Conservator for Exhibitions, Myriam de Arteni, installing the works on site.

Edgar Allen Poe: Terror of the Soul also opened on October 4 and will be on view at the Morgan Library & Museum until January 26. The NYPL loaned 32 items from the Berg Collection to this exhibition, as we have one of the most important collections of Poe material in the United States. The exhibition has also received great reviews. The exhibition is accompanied by a wonderful illustrated catalog which includes an essay from the NYPL Berg Collection Curator, Dr. Isaac Gewirtz.
