Make Your Move
There is a good chance that you are starting your summer off in a new home. May, which has been referred to as National Moving Month, kicked off the relocation season. Anyone who has ever moved knows that it is a very involved process. It is so involved, that at times (perhaps while figuring out pet transportation or carrying boxes full of books), you might want to rethink the whole thing. Flooded basement filled with zombies? A wacky obstacle you might rather live with instead of moving.
Here are some resources to help you organize your move and hopefully minimize the stress:
U.S. Department of Transportation has the Protect Your Move site. The site provides state and local resources for your move and handy information about a moving company’s complaint history. AARP has a guide for seniors that are planning a move.
As mentioned above, you might be dealing with the matter of pet transportation. It is not always as simple as a quick subway or taxi ride. Check out the International Pet and Animal Transportation Association and Pet Air Carrier provides pet friendly airline links.
The New York Public Library has books and e-books that can help too, including those that feature tips on how to creatively maximize what can be done in your new space.
