The Art of Reading: A Display of Art at the Todt Hill-Westerleigh Library
An active library patron, Edward Patrick Grigg's latest group of artwork is inspired by the library books he has enjoyed reading from the New York Public Library after returning from Eastern Europe from January 2012 to the present.
His show, called "The Art of Reading," is now on display at his local branch which is the Todt Hill-Westerleigh Library.
Some of the books reflected by his artwork can be checked out through the New York Public Library. They are:
Cleopatra the Great: the Woman Behind the Legend by Joann Fletcher
The Triple Agent: the Al-Qaeda Mole Who Infiltrated the CIA by Joby Warrick
Mr. Grigg says about his artistic connection between reading and art, "The characters, plots and settings of the books I have read are great sources that fuel my creative energies and help guide me to create my art pieces from my emotions and intellectual appreciation of the authors I have read. I am passionate about creating and viewing art as I am about reading. It is a great pleasure to share my art with fellow patrons who enjoy coming to the library as much as I do."
The various sizes of mixed media, charcoal, pencil and ink are currently on display for the public throughout the fall on the lobby level at the Todt Hill-Westerleigh Library.
A native New Yorker, Edward is a 1990 graduate of the High School of Art & Design and a 1994 graduate of SUNY New Paltz, BFA. He is currently finishing his Master of Science in Instructional Technology at NYIT. He lives with his wife and three boys in Staten Island.
