pity Thom Andersen's brilliant 2003 video essay Los Angeles Plays Itself is not released (due to rights issues presumably), as it is a must-see for those interested in LA and how it has been portrayed in films; look for it at Anthology Film Archives or other repertory theaters, it is a gem.
