Maura and I are both flabbergasted and honored that our Library event series, Handmade Crafternoons, has been featured in Martha Stewart Living's February issue. If you've been to any events in the series in the past you'll hopefully agree with this article, which is a love letter to libraries, creativity, and community (even though Maura and I don't actually serve pizza sandwiches at our events; sorry!)

We're simply thrilled to welcome staff from this magazine as our special guests at our next Handmade Crafternoon on February 5th.  We'll have lots of supplies, thanks to the generosity of Martha Stewart Living, so you can cut, glue, stitch, and fold your own unique valentines.  

If you want to brush up on all things Martha+Valentines, come into the Library and read the February issue. Also, check out this online video and browse the valentine templates—each created by Martha's craft editors and inspired by a vintage valentine in the Library's collection—for secret message hearts, little foxes, and pop-up folded hearts.  And then join us for the fun of making your own valentines and browsing a variety of lovely books and magazines from the Library's collections.

• This is a FREE event and there's no advance registration required.  The seating will be first-come-first-served, and we'll open the doors at 1:45pm.
• Where: Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, Margaret Liebman Berger Forum (on the Second Floor, Room 227)
• When: Saturday, February 5th, 2011, from 2:00 to 4:00pm (doors open at 1:45pm)
