Hand-Made
Handcrafted Postcards
Last month saw the last of the Library's Handmade Crafternoon spring series, as our special guest Natalie Chanin provided us with a tremendous afternoon of stories, lessons, and inspiration. (The list of books we browsed that afternoon will come soon, I promise!) Although I’ll miss our creative community over the summer break, Maura and I will be busy as bees lining up the new series for the coming fall.
And we'll keep you posted with the dates, guests, and project details right here and here, as usual. These events happen because of YOU, our inspiring and craft-curious attendees, and I'd like to thank you all for your part in making the Handmade Crafternoon a unique success.
I also want to say thanks to all the concerned crafters who created postcards--with unique messages and drawings, rickrack and embroidery, yarn and applique, and other cool craftiness--for Mayor Bloomberg (a few are pictured here). A big stack of these embellished cards, created during May's Handmade Crafternoon, have been hand delivered (how else, right?) to the Mayor’s office as we urge him not to close the book on libraries in the coming year’s budget plan. If you haven't yet told our leaders why libraries matter to you, there are still a few days left to do so before the City Council votes.
As always, stay tuned for more handmade library news right here.
