18 year old Leo is a very focused young republican, determined to get into Harvard.  He's all set to go when a misunderstanding during a final exam causes him to lose his scholarship and his future.  At the same time he finds out that his father is not actually is real father, and that his real father is King Maggot of the legendary punk rock band Purge. 

Leo wants to ask for money, but can't bring himself to do it, so he jumps at a chance to join King Maggot on the road to get to know him better, and to drum up the courage to ask for Harvard's tuition.  In between dognapping and mosh pits, Leo learns a lot about family and friendship and who he really is. 

 

I really liked this book, mainly because I really liked Leo. He was pretty boring as a low key high school student, who never really stood up for himself.  But he emerged as a leader.  Something that could only happen when you are completely out of your comfort zone.  This book is all about what happens when you take some risks and do something out of the ordinary, great things could happen.
