Interviews
My Library: Roberta
So what brings you into the library today?
I am thrilled to be here as I am every Thursday when I come to volunteer. I do reception. I help people when they ask where things are. I love doing it, I love the people I work with—the people, the patrons of the library are so pleasant especially in this branch I find.
Great!
And the people that work in the background like Veronica, Martin and you—
Shout outs!
And Rebecca, the librarian in the children's room.
Do you use the library when you are not volunteering?
I attend a poetry workshop every Tuesday here at 4:30pm and we welcome anybody who wants to come and read their poetry and get criticized for it (laughs). We have a wonderful poetry group! There are around 15 to 20 people every week. We also create a chapbook of all those poets' poems every April.
Who is your favorite poet?
Well, I like John Ashbery even though he’s a little off the wall. And Emily Dickinson—
Did you go to the program we had on Dickinson last month?
No, I couldn’t make it, I was seeing a ridiculous play—Mr. and Mrs. Fitch—but I did go to the Shakespeare program you had, The Taming of the Shrew—fabulous, it was fabulous.
What’s your favorite color?
Blue, or pink.
Okay!
Why do you ask that?
Just to ask something non-library and try and find out about you!
Oh…okay…
