Hand-Made
Hand-Stitched Mice at Handmade Crafternoon.
Our next Handmade Crafternoon is in just two days, and my co-host Maura Madden and I hope that you will join us. We've lined up a sweet special guest, Kata Golda, who makes extraordinary little toys and creatures out of felt (and whose book Hand-Stitched Felt is a great guide to making your own felt creations). She promises to show us how to make tiny felt mouse puppets.
Two enterprising library interns provided me with invaluable help in selecting the books for this event, so you'll have the chance to browse a variety of gems from our stacks--books about puppetry, felt and wool, hand-sewn toys and animals, and more. And speaking of books, The Library Shop has copies of Hand-Stitched Felt and Crafternoon on hand, and both Kata and Maura will be glad to sign copies on Saturday. This event is free--hope to see you there!
Here are the details:
- Date and time: Saturday, March 20, 2010, from 2:00 to 4:00pm
- Location: Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue, Margaret Liebman Berger Forum (Room #227, located in the northeast corner of the second floor)
- About Supplies: Kata hails all the way from the Pacific Northwest, but that distance didn't stop her from bringing along a giant box of luscious OhMa felt scraps to share with us. And we will have some other supplies to share that day as well. But as usual at Handmade Crafternoons, if you want to guarantee that you have everything you need to complete the project, go ahead and bring along the following: scissors, a bit of felt, some 6-stranded embroidery floss, and a nice sharp sewing needle with an eye big enough for your floss.
