After reading for a week, we've gotten to some of the mystery and intrigue of the novel and some interesting points have arisen for discussion. Feel free to weigh in on any or all of these questions.

The Shadow of the Wind (La sombra del viento) was written in Spanish, and the word "sombra" can also be translated as shade, which gives the title a bit more of an ominous and darker feeling. What is the shadow (or shade) of the wind in this story?

Daniel Sempere and Julian Carax have a number of similarities and parallel experiences. Do their fates seem to be intertwined?

The character of LainCourbet keeps appearing, who is he? In Julian's book, he represents the devil. Does he represent the same in Daniel's story?

I really liked this book! I

I really liked this book! I was skeptical at first because it isn't really a subject matter that I'm that interested in, but it was so well written that I ended up reading it in two days. I read it a while ago, so I can't really answer any of the discussion points, but I can say that I was incredibly excited when I saw "The Angel's Game" (the newest book by the author), and that was a page turner too! Even though sometimes it's easy to see where the plot is going, the characters are so well written that you don't fell cheated at the end.

Angel's Game

I just finished Angel's Game a few weeks ago and really liked it as well. You'll be happy to be reacquainted with some familiar characters. I hear Zafon has another book coming out very soon too!
