Hand-Made
Mark Your Calendars for Spring 2010 Handmade Crafternoons!
Happy 2010, curious crafters! It's time to mark your calendars for the next round of Handmade Crafternoons, the Library's free series of DIY days co-hosted by yours truly and Crafternoon author Maura Madden. Here's the line-up:
Saturday, February 20, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Esther K. Smith, author of How to Make Books, Magic Books & Paper Toys, and The Paper Bride, will wow us with her super paper-folding and book arts skills.
Saturday, March 20, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Get felty! Hand-Stitched Felt author Kata Golda will visit and share some of the tricks and techniques she uses to make her charming and whimsical felt creations.
Saturday, April 17, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Maura Madden, author of Crafternoon (and my extraordinary co-host), will lead us in DIY fun while also sharing her best tips on how to host an extra-fun and extra-successful crafternoon of one’s own.
Saturday, May 15, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Natalie Chanin, creative director of Alabama Chanin and author of Alabama Stitch Book and the forthcoming Alabama Studio Style, visits to share techniques and inspiration behind her work.
All of these events will be held at The New York Public Library, Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street, New York, NY.
As usual, each Handmade Crafternoon will include opportunities for browsing through selections from the Library's new and vintage books and magazines, getting creative with paper and fabric and fiber, and connecting with your community of friends and special crafty guests. And also as usual, I will post more information (details on projects, suggested supplies to bring, etc.) right here as each date nears. I look forward to seeing you this spring!
