The Schomburg Center Scholars-in-Residence Program offers long-term and short-term fellowships to support scholars and writers working on projects that would benefit from access to the Center's extensive collections of materials related to African diasporic history, politics, literature, and culture. Thank you for your interest in the Schomburg-Mellon Humanities Summer Institute. Due to the lack of applications received thus far this year, we will not hold the Institute in summer 2024.

Online applications are open for the Schomburg Center Junior Scholars Program, a free Saturday in-person program taking place during the academic year. Youth from fifth through 12th grades are eligible to participate. The deadline has been extended to  Wednesday, September 18.LEARN mORE

 

The New York Public Library

A page with handwriting on a cepia colored page.The New York Public Library offers Short-Term Research Fellowships to support scholars outside the New York metropolitan area, engaged in graduate-level, post-doctoral, and independent research in the arts and humanities. The program support scholars who  would benefit from research conducted on-site at the Schomburg Center, Library for the Performing Arts, Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center, or the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building. It draws from collections unique to NYPL. LEARN MORE.
