2011 Helen Bernstein Book Award for Excellence in Journalism winner announced

Shane Harris, author of “The Watchers: The Rise of America’s Surveillance State,” was named the winner of the 2011 Helen Bernstein Book Award For Excellence In Journalism by the New York Public Library Tuesday night. The prize honors working journalists whose books bring clarity and public attention to important issues, events or policies and includes a $15,000 honorarium.
