This event is ONLINE only.  Join the Grand Concourse Library staff as we discuss the story, "The First Day," by Edward P. Jones.  A mom takes her child to a new school, but they run into problems on the first day because the previous school did not accept her. Edward P. Jones   (born October 5, 1950) is an American novelist and short story writer.  He received the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for "The Known World."    Jones grew up poor in Washington, D.C.  in the 1950s and '60s.  His family lived in a series of impoverished shacks and tenements, moving  18 times in 18 years.  In 2010, Jones became a professor of literature at George Washington University.  Jones has also written two critically acclaimed collections of short stories.
