This event will take place in person at Stapleton Library. Learn artistic techniques and create your own meaningful artwork, inspired by the current NYPL exhibition,  Line & Thread: Prints and Textiles from the 1600s to the Present on view in the Library’s Rayner Wing from September 7, 2024– January 12, 2025. It features over 50 works that are drawn predominantly from prints held in the Library’s Miriam and Ira D. Wallach Division of Art, Prints, and Photographs.Tap into your inner-artist and feel inspired as you learn how to create artwork that is inspired by NYPL’s art collection as our muse! In this art class led by NYC’s #1-rated art studio,  every level is welcome, including total beginners! With an expert professional artist educator as your guide, receive easy-to-follow, step by step art instruction as you learn how to create your own mixed-media, textile-inspired collage artwork with a range of crafts art materials.

As a community, we’ll discuss  Jonathan Monk’s vibrant silkscreen prints on African Fabrics, and learn how to create personalized,  expressive artwork while practicing artistic techniques including pattern, color, repetition, layering, and the combination of geometric and organic shapes in our own artwork. In just one class, every student will walk away with a piece of personalized artwork to feel proud of!

Materials will be provided for this program. This art class is perfect for all levels.

Space is limited | Registration is recommended.  Register above with your email address. Walkups will be permitted as space accommodates.
