Interested in using our Recording Studio?
Introduction to the Recording Studio is a course where teens can learn the basics of how to operate our recording studio. This class is required to receive a Studio Card and be able to book time in our recording studios independently.
All sessions take place on the lower level of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library.
In this class teens will learn:
Equipment Handling
- Microphone types, (Dynamic, Condenser, Ribbon)
- Cable types (XLR, Instrument, Line, Aux)
- Various pieces of recording equipment (MIDI Keyboards, Mic Stands, Audio Interfaces, Digital Console)
Basics of Digital Audio Workstations
- Basic functions of the Digital Audio Workstations (DAW)
- How to set up a recording session inside the program
- How to record and edit audio
Running a Session
- How to set up a microphone in the Recording Studio Live Room
- How to set up a recording session inside the DAW
- How to record and edit audio within the Recording Studio Control Room
Entry is on a first come, first serve basis day-of the program at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library Teen Center! SPACE IS LIMITED! Please make sure to check in at the Teen Center's desk when you arrive to confirm your place in the class.
