16mm Film, Library Open House Week: Neighborhood Film Screening: Crosby Street and La Dolce Festa
Location
Join the Mulberry Street Library for a screening of two short documentary films related to our nearby neighborhoods of Little Italy and SoHo.
CROSBY STREET (1975, 18 minutes) takes a look at the various economic, social, and esthetic strata on a New York City street. The film includes interviews with residents and merchants and scenes of the homeless.
LA DOLCE FESTA (1977, 28 minutes) is a documentary on the traditions, preparation and rituals of the San Gennaro Festival in New York City's Little Italy. For fifty years, one of New York's oldest immigrant communities has re-created this Neapolitan religious festival commemorating an early Christian martyr. The San Gennaro Festival is ongoing right outside the Library from September 12 through September 22!
This event will take place in-person at the Mulberry Street Library in our Community Room on LL2. Attendance is first come, first served, and limited to 20 viewers.
