Like always, I am horse crazy as ever, so I definitely wanted to see which professional associations and journals are out there to aid horse professionals. When I was a librarian at a corporate library, part of my job was to dig up medical professional journals. I found an association for recruiters in health care for my supervisor that she did not know about. I became aware that there is a professional association for everything, and I sometimes refer patrons to professional associations.

I am a huge fan of special libraries, and I have a couple of medical physicists in the family, so I thought I would see how many relevant libraries and museums I could find. Medical physicists work in hospitals, and they work on developing treatments for cancer. Medical physicists are required to complete a master's degree, and they usually become board certified, meaning that they pass a three-part test, which they must take in three separate years.

Before the telephone directory, there was the city directory, a book that listed the names, addresses, professions, and in some cases ethnicity, of people in a particular town or city. Many of these directories have been digitized for your perusal, or are available on microfilm, all at the New York Public Library.

In New York City, city directories were printed between 1786 and 1934: the first telephone books began to appear in the late
