Resources for Homework Help at NYPL
It’s hard to believe it's already September. Fall brings with it a lot of things I love: pumpkins, football, and chilly evenings with a book are all favorites. It’s also the time when schools are back in session for many students, which means getting back into a routine. Routines can be great, but if your routine includes school it might mean more studying. At the Library we’ve got you covered if you need research or study resources. As you head back to class this fall, be sure to explore NYPL's resources for homework help. A few are highlighted below and you can find links to many more on our Back to School webpage. If you need more assistance, stop by your local branch and ask a librarian for help.
Databases
Mango Languages
Mango languages is your one-stop shop for learning and practicing new languages. Spanish, French, Arabic, and so many more are available on this database. Whether you;re learning for school or for your own personal use, this tool will help you learn or brush up on a new-to-you language.
Biography in Context
Find biographies of important figures around the world, from all backgrounds and cultures. Use this database to find information for school reports and to add context to history classes.
JSTOR
This database is great for high school and college students. Are you doing a report and need to find peer-reviewed sources? JSTOR is a great place to start looking. You'll also find many primary documents. For many classes, especially disciplines within the sciences, you will want to make sure you are using up-to-date articles and information in your writing. JSTOR is great because it has many current articles. ProQuest and Credo Reference are also useful sources if you need to find peer-reviewed articles across many disciplines. Access these databases with your library card.
