On September 2, 2021 Governor Hochul signed a new moratorium on COVID-related residential and commercial evictions into law, effective through January 15, 2022. While this extension will be very helpful, it's good to remind New Yorkers who are struggling to pay their rent to apply for assistance through the state's Emergency Rental Assistance Program, or ERAP. Applicants to this program are automatically protected from eviction while their application is pending and will receive a year of eviction protections if they qualify for assistance. For general housing resources in New York City, the Library has also put together an array of useful links on our Housing & Tenants Rights Resources page.
On Tuesday, August 24th, the Kingsbridge Library hosted Jordan Dewbre from Bronxworks to talk about how to find out if you qualify for the NY State Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) and how to apply. Below is the recording of that program.
