"Black&" Discussion Series
This blog post is part of the Woodson Project—a series of events, posts, and book lists on subjects including empowering Black families, amplifying Black voices, exploring Black identity and intersectionality, and discovering Black influencers in STEAM. The project was created by branch staff from across NYPL to honor Dr. Carter G. Woodson, who in 1926 created Negro History Week—the precursor to Black History Month.
"Black&" is a series of online discussions led by dedicated NYPL Staff members centered around different aspects of Black identity.
"Black& Queer"
"Black&" will kick off with "Black& Queer." Host and attendees will discuss what it means to move in the world as Black and LGBTQ. Attendees will read article snippets about the Black LGBTQ experience and have an open dialogue. The goal is to leave with a better understanding of the intersectionality of these identities and resources for further education. Join us Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 2 PM. Register now.

Join NYPL staff for our second online discussion, "Black& Woman." Our topic will discuss what it means to move in the world as Black and as a woman. Attendees will read article snippets about the experiences of Black women and have an open dialogue. The goal is to leave with a better understanding of the intersectionality of these identities and resources for further education. Join us February 17 at 2 PM. Register now.
