Looking Back at Fiscal Year 2020 at The Library for the Performing Arts
January gives us all an opportunity to reflect on the past year. I joined The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts as the Barbara G. and Lawrence A. Fleischman Executive Director in June, just at the end of our fiscal year, and in the throes of the global pandemic, racial justice movement, and so much more. Needless to say, there's been much to ponder.
The performing arts community has faced unique and profound challenges this year, and I'm so proud of the work everyone at the Library for the Performing Arts has done to help support the students, researchers, artists and enthusiasts who rely on us and our resources.
I invite you to look through our Fiscal Year 2020 Annual Report here, and celebrate with us the things we have accomplished—welcoming 265,000 visitors before the pandemic hit; bringing in the collections of Martha Graham, Maryanne Amacher and others; circulating close to 200,000 books, scores, scripts and other items; inspiring the publication of more than 15 books; hosting long-term and short-term fellows and a musical theatre writing program; serving almost 2,000 learners with collection-based curriculum; and hosting dynamic and engaging exhibitions and public programs that explored and celebrated the performing arts. I also hope you'll join us in looking ahead to FY 2021 as we continue to be innovative, and serve those who need us as a free resource for all.
