Digitized Slavica: Zlatá Praha
Zlatá Praha was a Czech illustrated magazine. It was first briefly published in 1864-1865 by Karl Seyfried and edited by Vítězslav Hálek (1835-1874), a Czech poet, writer, journalist, dramatist, and theatre critic. It was revived in 1884 as a weekly published by Jan Otta. The editor-in-chief was Ferdinand Schulz (1835-1905), a publicist, writer, and high school educator. In addition to articles covering culture and politics, Schulz also accepted literary works, including poems, short stories, and sequel novels both written in Czech and translated from other languages. The magazine was richly illustrated including portraits of personalities and reproductions of works of art. It was appreciated for its high-end content and attractive graphic design. Its last issue was dated September 29, 1929.
