Public Art Comes to Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library
The New York Public Library has partnered with local artists, New Yorkers and mostly veterans, on a temporary art project at the new Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library (SNFL). Their murals provide all of us with a message of mutual community support and that the life of learning continues.
Inspired by the street art in Soho, our guest curator Stevie-Ray Vance envisioned bringing these artists to midtown to paint murals on the windows of SNFL boarded up during election week. His efforts ensured their exhibition and preservation. The result has been enlivening the space and conversations on Fifth Avenue and across the web, bringing inspiration and mindfulness during these difficult times.
In Midtown Manhattan? Check out the art at Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library (SNFL). Or check out the photos below as well as a video of the mural-making in process!
