Three Easy Film-Inspired Halloween Costumes
Need a last-minute costume for that Zoom Halloween party you decided to attend? Make celebrating the holiday from home just as memorable as last year! I dare you to recreate your favorite character's most iconic outfit with your existing wardrobe. It’s inexpensive, you’re upcycling your clothes, and it doesn’t require you to sew. Below are three ideas for film-inspired Halloween outfits to emulate or inspire you to create your own:
The Terminator
Believe it or not, I dressed up as The Terminator last year for Halloween. No, I didn't wrap myself in aluminum foil. I decided to recreate Arnold Schwarzenegger's most iconic look from the 1984 film with my favorite leather jacket, black t-shirt, olive pants, biker boots, and sunglasses. All that was left for me to do was strike a Charlie's Angels pose.
Breakfast At Tiffany's
The iconic Audrey Hepburn in a black dress—need I say more? This is one of the most effortless but glamorous looks to emulate for a Halloween costume. Let your inner diva out. Dust off that black gown you only wore once, unfold that summer black maxi dress, grab your mother’s pearls, and style your hair in a chignon; okay, maybe this part is not so easy. Gloves are optional but, they do add to the drama.
Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami
Now, if drama is what you crave on Halloween, then you can’t beat Grace Jones. Confidence is a must, and an attitude is non-negotiable. Style your hair in a pompadour or add volume to your pixie cut. Then follow up with dramatic eye makeup, highlight those cheekbones, and finish off with a bold color for your lips. This is another all-black ensemble, so grab your black stockings, high heels, bodysuit, and your boyfriend’s blazer.
