Kick Your Streaming Game Up A Notch With Foreign-Language Films From the Library

Overdrive is an absolutely fantastic library resource, providing thousands of free titles to read and also to view. There are a ton of options in our online blockbuster queues, especially for foreign film aficionados. I will be focusing on these as the English titles in Overdrive do not, as yet, contain subtitles and are, therefore, not 100% accessible to our readers and viewers. All foreign language films in Overdrive have English subtitles.

First up in the queue: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Starring Noomi Rapace (of Prometheus and Bright fame), this film kicks off the original Swedish adaptations of Stieg Larsson's modern classic, The Millenium Trilogy. Computer hacker Lisbeth Salander aids journalist Mikael Blomkvist as he unravels the mysterious disappearance of a tycoon's niece 40 years ago.

For fans of horror, check out Let the Right One In, the unsettling tale of a bullied boy who befriends the pale, mysterious, nocturnal girl next door. Never mind the murders that happen after her arrival. For more vampire goodness, with an Iranian flavor, try A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night.

If ragtag resistance films are your thing, give Army of Crime a watch. This is the dramatized true story of immigrants in the French Resistance who fought against the Nazi stranglehold on Paris.

And last but not least, we've even got martial arts film fans covered. The Grandmaster is inspired by the life of Ip Man, the legendary trainer of the even more legendary Bruce Lee.
