Metaphor and Illness: Mariam Ghani and guests
For this FREE event held in conjunction with the Library's exhibition Mapping Contagion, filmmaker Mariam Ghani sits down with three extremely prestegious scientists and researchers to discuss her latest film Dis-Ease. Together we will investigate the metaphors we use to understand illnesses and whether or not these metaphors affect how we treat them.

A Stonewall Event—Riots, Representation, and Results: What Does Stonewall Have to Do With Staten Island?
Although Stonewall is often understood as the kick off to the LGBTQ rights movement in the USA, it can also be seen as part of the longer story of civil rights work. Artist, writer, and curator Theodore Kerr joins us to facilitate a community conversation about the history of Stonewall and connect it to the civil rights movement and Staten Island today.
