Job and Employment Links for the Week of March 4
For 22-year-old collision repair technician Alyssa Culver, working on cars is in her genes. With her passion for the work, but no interest in attending a four-year college or incurring student loan debt, Culver enrolled at Universal Technical Institute.
Her apprenticeship taught her the basics and paved the way for her current profession as a collision repair technician at the Spring, Texas, location of Service King, a company with a vested interest in her success.
Culver says the dedicated support from apprenticeship supervisor Al Scott, and her other colleagues, contributes to her success. In turn, she does the best possible work she can. In the future , Culver hopes to move up within the company, and even manage a Service King location one day.
You can learn more about Alyssa Culver's success story in Passion for Cars Drives ApprenticeToward Success, a Department of Labor blog post written by Juan J. Rodriguez, a public affairs specialist for the Labor Department in Dallas.
