Library Zine! Issue 2 Now Available
Greetings, creative New Yorkers!
The support and enthusiasm we received after publishing the first edition of "Library Zine!" inspired us to follow up with a second issue! Although we, the editorial team, are leading this operation, it is you—contributors, content creators, and readers—who have created the voice and meaning of this publication. Without you, we would have a blank booklet, read by no one… so thank you for your work and warm reception.
For Issue 2, we decided to focus on the same theme as The New York Public Library’s 2017 Summer Reading Challenge: Build a Better World. We found it particularly relevant, as many people are looking for ways to build upon and improve their communities and, consequently, the whole world.
Every day, bigger buildings replace and reshape our skyline as New Yorkers demand more: buildings, institutions, parks, spaces, and access to these places that build intangible but unwavering communities.
There is a blueprint by which New Yorkers work to build a better city—and a better world—and this latest issue is a compilation of ideas that form part of that blueprint. From calls for love and questions that scratch at the foundation of civilization, to an appreciation of subculture and pure escapism, this collection should sprout a seed of inspiration and motivation in the minds of our readers.
As our young patrons wrote for the Library’s summer reading essay contest, reading can and will build a better world.
Thank you again to all our contributors and subscribers. Please note that this will be our final physical volume of "Library Zine!". For future issues, as well as our first two editions, visit www.nypl.org/nyplzine.
